Jarvis double keeps Green winning run alive
Two goals from Matty Jarvis (pictured) plus scores from Martyn Dalby and Jamie Hurst sees the Bromley Green lads unbeaten and well on target to win the Monday night sixes tournament at Pitchside. Soon the boys will have sterner tests when they face higher division opponents in the league cup. This is proving a good experience for the youngsters who are all expected to be at training on Tuesday night please!
The club has announced tonight that Ian Mace will take up the role of assistant Sunday Reserves manager alongside Phil Wedge. Ian, who is taking his FA coaching badges, was formerly with Ashford Town and Locomotive, until the latter folded this year. Ian takes up his post immediately and will work collaboratively with Dave Smith tomorrow at training. The moves allow Trent Thomas to assist Steve Mailey on Sundays and to be free most Saturdays to help.
Sad news comes from Jason Thomas who looks likely to miss the coming season after last term was marred by injury. Jason has signed forms but the reality is he is not pencilled in to play for a long while yet. A club spokesman said tonight “This is dreadful news for the club but particularly frustrating for Jason himself. He loves wearing the Green shirt and we can only hope that by being patient the problem is solved long-term. We are also concerned over the serious injuries to Lee Gilham and Joe Mifsud that have effectively ruined their playing careers. We can only hope that these three likeable lads do eventually return to the action…preferably before the end of the season.”
