From the managers: Phil is organising training at the ground on Sunday morning at 10.30 for those that are available

Three for Cornell as Green win League

Dan Cornell netted a treble in a 6-0 victory that maintained the 100% record and ensured the Pitchside Monday Sixes title goes to the Green boys. Congratulations to Munch, Martyn and company who have won the league with one game to go. Also on target were Matt Jarvis (2)  and Martyn Dalby.

3 weeks to first game

Saturday night snippets

Ali Mehmet 9 June 2009 001New Green Reserves manager Ali Mehmet (pictured) will get the club’s season under way on Saturday 1 August when Riverside Inn are our visitors for the opening pre-season friendly with a 2pm kick off.  At the time of publishing, we have 17 warm-up games with thirteen at home and four away. Please click on the Fixtures tab for an up-to-date list. Some players have been conspicuous by their absence from training so I am sure the managers would appreciate a full quota this Tuesday at the ground (including those who owe money from last season!)  There is still time for new players to get involved in team planning for next season … just turn up at the ground anytime from 6pm on Tuesdays (group training begins at 7pm), ring one of the numbers on the Contact page, or email dhomewood@yahoo.com

The caption competition result is on the Competition link and there will be another simple challenge coming this week while once again can we ask for all items for the Auction and Boot Fair stall now please (or at least inform Steve or DH when it will be arriving or needs collecting so proper arrangements can be made).  Please put your name on the list at the ground and support Munch with his Poker Night. Those that want to go to the 20/20 quarter final on 27 July, can you let Dave Smith know on Tuesday please.

Flog It!

09-05-16 J HurstCan we please have all those unwanted items for the Boot Fair and items for sale for the Auction as soon as possible

There is still room for a few more to join in Jamie’s Poker Night (see Diary Dates) … please add your name to the list down the ground

Some of the BG lads are going to the 20/20 quarter final at Canterbury on Monday 27 July … anyone interested please let Dave Smith know in case it becomes all-ticket and we need to apply in a hurry. Further details at Club Night next week.

Tuesday night as it happens…

Training 5 July 2009Training is well under way now on Tuesdays and Sundays and the managers are very upbeat concerning prospects for the coming campaign. Some excellent signings have been made and the managers will announce these as and when they feel the time is right. Meanwhile Liam Holman, who a fortnight ago won the Peter Knott Memorial Trophy, is trying his hand at Lordswood while Ryan Norman is off to Bearsted. Already there is an injury worry with Craig Norman still suffering from a knee problem incurred towards the end of last season. With two good training sessions under their belts, there is an air of optimism already at the club. Pics of the Quiz on Saturday night:

Monday night as it happens…

* Matt Jarvis nets twice to keep Green boys top

* Ian Mace joins the management team

* Jason Thomas likely to miss next season

Jarvis double keeps Green winning run alive

09-05-16 Presentation 014[1] b Matt JarvisTwo goals from Matty Jarvis (pictured) plus scores from Martyn Dalby and Jamie Hurst sees the Bromley Green lads unbeaten and well on target to win the Monday night sixes tournament at Pitchside. Soon the boys will have sterner tests when they face higher division opponents in the league cup. This is proving a good experience for the youngsters who are all expected to be at training on Tuesday night please!

The club has announced tonight that Ian Mace will take up the role of assistant Sunday Reserves manager alongside Phil Wedge. Ian, who is taking his FA coaching badges, was formerly with Ashford Town and Locomotive, until the latter folded this year. Ian takes up his post immediately and will work collaboratively with Dave Smith tomorrow at training. The moves allow Trent Thomas to assist Steve Mailey on Sundays and to be free most Saturdays to help.

Sad news comes from Jason Thomas who looks likely to miss the coming season after last term was marred by injury. Jason has signed forms but the reality is he is not pencilled in to play for a long while yet. A club spokesman said tonight “This is dreadful news for the club but particularly frustrating for Jason himself. He loves wearing the Green shirt and we can only hope that by being patient the problem is solved long-term. We are also concerned over the serious injuries to Lee Gilham and Joe Mifsud that have effectively ruined their playing careers. We can only hope that these three likeable lads do eventually return to the action…preferably before the end of the season.”
