Green Reserves win 3-1 away to Platt Reserves
… click on Latest Match Reports for all the details from Ian Mace … other results from the Reserves Division East were the University lads beating Kennington seconds 1-0 and a shock for Canterbury City Reserves who went down 1-2 at home to a revitalised New Romney Reserves side. Bearsted now lead the table.

Green 0 Tonbridge Invicta 4: A poor early goal conceded, quickly followed by a contentious handball penalty decision, knocked the stuffing out of the home side in this Kent Intermediate Challenge Shield tie. Good luck to Invicta in the next round but one has to ask what is the point of having paid linesmen (sorry assistant referees or whatever the latest term is) if they do not play a part in decision making? What are they there for? Not a game to remember for many reasons but there were good performances from Micky Doyle, Mark Howells and some sublime second half moments of control by substitute Adam Mercer. A cold afternoon with the visitors looking well organised.
For the Green, there is now a need to move on quickly and get their rhythm back for next week away to Lanes End (who also leaked four goals today). Plenty of postponements today including the Ulley Road fixture between Kennington and Oakwood. In the Ryman, Ashford lost 3-0 at Whitstable, Folkestone storm on with another win while the Rams put on a late, late show to snatch a 3-2 victory over Corinthian Casuals. Gary Mickelborough netted with a minute to go for an unlikely 2-2 draw but sensationally keeper Danny Twyman headed home a free kick in the 92nd minute to steal the points. With Faversham amazingly only drawing 0-0 at home to Sporting Bengal, Hythe must feel they are right back in the hunt for Kent League honours after their 4-0 win at Fisher. Ex Green players Pat Kingwell and Dave Cook were both on target. Meanwhile, the Lydders put up a good show before going down 2-1 away to MALGO. More details as they arrive.
