Saturday we take on Saga in our last pre-season friendly before the season starts next week. Our 3 previous games have seen us gradually improve as the players match fitness levels rise, the newcomers to the squad are settling in well and the general shape of the side is developing.
Liam Smith: outstanding in pre-season
There are still a few issues for myself to sort before the big kick off next week as we will have some players carrying suspensions from last season, but the squad is strong and this will give the guys who get a first team place the opportunity to play well and keep it. Training for the first time was poorly attended on Tuesday, but with games on Tuesday and Wednesday I am sure this was a one off and not the norm, it is so important this week that we not only continue our improvement in our friendly games but the training commitment remains high as getting off to a good start in September will be crucial for the whole season.
