Tonbridge Invicta v Bromley Green
Saturday 24 February 2012
By Dave Smith
On Saturday in a re arranged fixture we travel to bottom club Tonbridge Invicta, after a 2 week lay off due to the weather we will all be hoping this game goes ahead and we can get back to playing. Another massive 3 points needed as we start the run in to the end of the season.
It will be hard for everyone to hit the ground running from the enforced lay off but anything less than a maximum return could be fatal in our title chase, but this will be the same for all sides as hardly a ball has been kicked over the last 2 weeks. The concentration, commitment and passion needs to be there from all the lads, we have worked so hard to get to the top of the league and now is the time to stamp our authority on not only this game but all that follow.
The squad this week has been helped with the lay off as it has given some injuries more time to clear up. Micky Doyle will be missing due to a long time arranged stag weekend for reserve keeper Craig Mannering and hopefully Rocky Hayles will at last complete his ban if this game goes ahead. The squad has been changing a lot lately but I can now see within the next few weeks we will be back to full strength which could just give us the edge as we finish off our last 9 games.
Squad: C.Smith, M.Hadlum, T.Head, , P.Allan, M.Collins, G.Mackett, R.Smith, B.Beaney, S.Harris, D.Cornell, G.Lockyer, A.Purse, P.Burt, L.Smith
Players are reminded kick off are again now 2.45pm so we will be meeting at 12.45pm at the club
Bromley Green Thirds v Great Chart
Saturday 18 February 2012
By Matt Coniam
After a great show of character from the lads in my first game, we look forward to the challenge of a Great Chart side that, despite their lowly position in the table, must not be taken for granted.
Another good turnout by the youngsters at training on Tuesday has allowed us to sign 16 year old Aaron Hobday, to our squad. It is our intention to get a few more young players signed before the deadline at the end of February, allowing them time to get assimilated to the club and team. In this way, I believe we can hit the ground running come next September with a good core of players, no matter who progresses into the more senior teams.
The squad for this League Cup tie will change slightly this week with the Illsley brothers away but Aaron Neil, Jamie Hurst and Terry Perk returning. Ship is also with us this week in his quest to regain full match fitness. Andrew Possee is, unfortunately, joining Woolpack Inn but this should allow him to at least get more football experience.
Squad: Wilson Guest; Dan Harris, Jamie Hurst, Martyn Dalby, Jordan Hill,
Michael Dryland, Aaron Neil, Emmanuel Awuni, Aaron Hobday, Terry Perk,
Kieran Hawkins, Matt Jarvis, Marcus Dalby, Matt Coniam, Shqipron Ahmetaj
Players are to meet 12:45pm latest at Waterside and club tracksuit tops are to be worn.
All players texted about arrangements - see you Saturday!
Brewmaster v Bromley Green
Sunday 19 February 2012
By Richie Moore
Sunday will see us make the trip up the A28 to Brewmaster for the 3rd time this season. Having had a couple of close games up there with plenty of goals, the Charity Trophy Semi Final will be a good game for the neutrals I would suggest. We know what strength they have in midfield so we will need to be on top of our game both with and without possession as we look to win the only trophy that eluded us last season.
At the time of going to press, the squad cannot be finalised. The weather is due to take another cold turn at the weekend, after the forced rest period we will see how players are feeling Saturday night and assess any niggling injuries. Obviously if the reserves game fails a pitch inspection it will allow us to have more players at our disposal.
If any player on Saturday night feels they are unable to last at least 90 minutes on Sunday, please let Matt or I know. This game will be decided on the day and it is a semi final. Players are to report at Waterside NO LATER THAN 0915, if any players are travelling direct to the ground then please again inform Matt or I so we know and are not leaving without a full squad. Club tops are to be worn.
