Great team effort/Lockyer praised by Andrews/Last night’s details

Thanks go to Claire, Duncan, Liza and the children for their help at yesterday’s work party at the ground. Also later on Trent for transporting things around on his trailer.

All those who turned up for training last night had an enjoyable session with Dave Andrews [left] complimenting the few seniors that bothered: “It was great to see Gary Lockyer and Liam Holman encouraging all the youngsters and this bodes well for the future. Well done to everybody, including the new lads who were most impressive, for making it a worthwhile session.” Following the signing of Dan Harris a fortnight ago, another youngster, Aaron Hobday, joined up with the Saturday Thirds after last night’s training and will go straight onto the bench for this week’s home game with Great Chart. The lads hail from Woodchurch U16s, who play in the Crowborough League, and it is hoped a number will gain experience with Matt Coniam’s squad now with a view to playing adult football next season.
Woodchurch chairman Jeremy Hobday, fresh from a ‘four-men-in-a-hot tub’ adventure, said he hoped to keep the squad together for one more year in youth football on Sundays. Speaking at the 3G training venue last night Mr Hobday explained: “Some boys are not physically ready to step up into this environment full time just yet; but after another year it will be open to them to come over if they wish”.

Dartford will have to try again at Grosvenor Vale next Tuesday as they aim to reach the last eight of the FA Trophy following a 2-2 draw with Wealdstone. A somewhat low crowd of 770 at Princes Park saw Danny Harris and Lee Noble twice put the Darts in front but Richard Jolly and Chris O’Leary deservedly earned the Stones another bite at the cherry.

Ebbsfleet’s trek to York ended in disappointment as their twice-postponed FA Trophy tie was finally decided by Matty Blair’s goal three minutes into the second half. Attendance: 1,419.

Tonight’s fixture 15 February 2012
Ryman League Cup Quarter-Final (7.45pm)
