Sunday morning … tough games for both Green sides/Bay’s cup triumph/Hythe details

Brews and Egerton will provide stern tests
This morning the firsts are at old friends Brewmasters for an Ashford Charity Trophy tie while the reserves title credentials face another stern test with the visit of Egerton. Kick off at both Hopes Grove and Waterside is at 10.30am. Shane will be opening up the clubhouse for morning coffee from 8.30am. The big games will be shown on the box and all members are welcome.

Bay move into FA Vase quarter finals

James Campbell: Bay hero

Herne Bay, reduced to ten men after 29 minutes when full back Tom Parker saw red, edged out Larkhall Athletic with a single strike by James Campbell to enter the last eight of the FA Carlsberg Vase. A decent-sized crowd of 612 at Winch’s Field will no doubt have expected a more entertaining match but in all honesty the Bath-based outfit were disappointing. For Bay, however, only the result matters and Campbell set up a trip to Hellenic League side Shortwood United in a fortnight’s time when he became the ‘Herne Hero’ with five minutes remaining on the clock.

Hythe up to eighth
A stirring second half comeback earned Hythe Town a 3-1 victory over visitors Crawley Down after Scott Porter’s charges had trailed at the interval to a Luke Blewden 25th minute strike. Goals from Nick Reeves, Pat Kingwell and Brendon Cass moved Hythe up to eighth in the Ryman South table. The gate at Reachfields: 206.

Two more images from yesterday’s 11-2 win
The Green Thirds are already rebuilding for next season with Matt Coniam charged with bringing in new young talent. A feature of the 11-2 win over a poor Great Chart side was the quality of the goals, not only from the young lads but also from seasoned campaigner Terry Perk. Next Saturday the side welcomes Riverside Inn to Waterside.
