Update: Stan Donald and Aaron Neil have kindly offered to help Trent at the ground on Tuesday morning from 9am for about an hour putting the soil back for the hard standing that we are not allowed to have. Anyone else free, please give a hand and it won’t take long at all as Trent has done most of it today. Thanks.

Defeat for our friends at Artois hots up the West Kent title race
A glance across the county to the West Kent Sunday League top flight shows a shock 2-1 defeat at Tonbridge Farm for leaders Artois United to leave the title race wide open. Chris Crouch netted for the home team, who had Andy Tarling sent off in the 87^th minute; but Pembury Sunday recorded only their third win of the campaign and took the points with goals from Chris Mearing and Martin Mullins (pen).

Good weekend for the Green
With the Saturday firsts moving ever closer to the title and the Sunday seniors pulling off a superb win at High Halden to book a place in the Ashford Charity Trophy final, it has been a good couple of days for the Green. Gary Lockyer made all the difference on Sundays last season and, as his hat trick at Tonbridge illustrates, he is bang in form as we enter the final stretch on both days this time round. Terry Perk netted just once during last season but amassed six during the weekend and indeed could have had another with a saved penalty on Sunday in the Reserves 2-2 draw with Egerton. The introduction of youngsters Harris, Hill and Hobday has added real competition for a place in the thirds line-up and the squad will be brimming with confidence for Saturday’s home game with Riverside Inn. As it’s not Valentine’s Day and the weather forecast is ok, it would be refreshing to see everyone at training on Tuesday [please report 6.45pm for 7pm prompt start].
