Bromley Green v Bredhurst
Saturday 25 February 2012
By Dave Smith
On Saturday we entertain Bredhurst in another change of fixture. Earlier in the season we recorded an excellent 4-0 victory in the away game which was near to one of our best performances of the season. But Bredhurst are a very determined team and as usual I expect a very completive game and we will have to be at our best to get the 3 points.
Normally at this point in a preview I will talk about how pleased I am with the commitment and attitude of the players but today I will air my views on training.
This Tuesday the turn out at training from the senior players was a disgrace. There were only 5 from the 14 man squad that played against Tonbridge, the reserves was even worse as they did not play and have not played for 3 weeks and now come back straight to a semi final and there were only 3 of them. The third team squad are the only squad that show good commitment to training and I applaud all of them for that. I really fail to understand this attitude I may possibly understand it more if we were sitting mid table with nothing to play for but we are not, we are top of the league chasing a title the club has never won. Do we simply think that we are to fit to train or that we are just to good I don’t know, but one thing I do know is that during the closing stages of games this season we have wilted and conceded late goals, this did not happen last year as the total opposite applied and we won many games late on due to our fitness.
Tony Gawler gives up his own time week in week out to train you all, this often means that after training he has to go straight to work for a night shift, do you think he would rather be at home with his wife, yes of course but Tony shows the commitment required to make the team a success but with the disrespectful attitude to training shown by many he must wonder why he bothers.
No one is guaranteed a place in the side but none attendance at training will certainly be in my mind when I have to choose between players and if this means going out with not my first choice then that is what I will do. We need to shape up and show the commitment to training that a side chasing a major honour should have because if we don’t then we will not win the league.
Squad: C.Smith, M.Hadlum, T.Head, R.Smith, L.Smith, Matt Collins, G.Mackett, B.Beaney, S.Harris, G.Lockyer, P.Burt, D.Cornell, M.Doyle, T.B.A.
Players are to be at the ground for 1.45 as it is a 2.45 kick off

Smarden v Bromley Green Reserves
Saturday 25 February 2012
By Andy Williams
The biggest game of our season so far occurs on Saturday when we visit Smarden of the Ashford and District League for our first of 2 semi-finals. The Competition, The Weald of Kent Cup, is a prestigious one and one we are desperate to reach the final of after what so far has been a season of underachievement in my view. Therefore we have to approach this tie in a thorough and committed manner. Although our opponents have not had the best of seasons, they too will fancy their chances of causing an upset and all village sides enjoy taking a County League scalp.
Craig Mannering returns along with fellow stag Ryan Strand. Also Kevin Quinn and Robbie Greenfield are back in the squad after suspension. Unfortunately Syd Beal is ineligible for the tie.
I cannot overestimate the importance of this game and hope this resonates with the squad who will relish a Cup Final after last season’s success.
SQUAD: C.MANNERING; K.QUINN, P.BARRON, M.GILBERT, M.HODGES, R.GREENFIELD, A.MERCER, J.THOMAS, T.POYNER, L.MILTON, E.STANLEY, T.LOCKETT, R.STRAND, R.FITZGERALD
To meet Waterside 12.15

Bromley Green 3rd v Riverside Inn
Saturday 25 February 2012
By Matt Coniam
After last week’s rout we return to normality and yet another hard game against Stuart Kingsnorth’s team. Having played Riverside on a number of occasions lately we know we will be in for a tough, physical game.
We have a very large squad this weekend and I apologise in advance for anyone who misses out. I would like to think that the players will understand what we are trying to achieve as we close this season out whilst preparing for next year. Two more 16 year olds, Kieran Shrimpton and Ryan Prior joined us at training on Tuesday and although they will probably not be involved this Saturday they are definite future prospects.
We will keep the same formation and team, as far as possible, which played so well last week, for this game. Although I expect a little more effort from certain players who thought that being 6 nil up is an excuse to rest and let other players bear the load. Also, hopefully this week Ship’s fitness has improved to a point where he can be effective in both halves of the game!
Squad: Wilson Guest, Jamie Hurst, Martyn Dalby, Mini Dryland, Dan Harris, Ship Ahmetaj, Aaron Neil, Mani Awuni, Matt Jarvis; Terry Perk, Jordan Hill, Aaron Hobday, Dan Illsley, Matt Illsley, Tom Moon
Meet at 12.30pm for a 1.45pm kick off

Editor’s note: update from Matt informs us that two players have dropped out with Jamie Hurst ‘reffing’ and Ship ‘babysitting’. As a result this week’s new signings Kieran Shrimpton and Ryan Prior will come straight onto the bench. Further update! Ship’s mum does not trust him to babysit, so he is available again now!

Aldington v Bromley Green
Sunday 26 February 2012
By Richie Moore
Sunday will see us travel to Aldington for the re-arranged Premier Division Cup Semi-final that has fallen foul of the weather previously. The boys are going into this game following a fantastic team effort and display last week at Brewmaster. Obviously Andy knows all our players so this will be another tough battle of wits between us. However we will be looking to get into our second final in 2 weeks and produce the winning display we did a few weeks ago against them at home. We do have to face them twice in the league, but this will be the game they are most up for, so we must not be complacent and go about our business as we did last week. It was a great performance last week that even drew praise from the opposition, who admitted when seeing the team sheet ‘felt they had a real chance’. Let’s repeat it this week and continue to fight for every trophy available to us.
The squad will keep the same shape as it did last week, the boys that stepped up done a fantastic job and even got on the score sheet, when that happens it is just not possible to remove them from the squad. This should be good confidence for all those that aspire to play in this team. Paul Allan will be missing but we welcome back Mickey Doyle and Craig Mannering from Craig’s stag do last weekend. Gary Lockyer will serve his 1 match ban, but Paul Burt returns from injury along with Liam Holman after illness. Ryan Smith will commence his 3 match ban.
If any player on Saturday night feels they are unable to last at least 90 minutes on Sunday, please let Matt or I know. This game will be decided on the day and it is a semi final. Players are to report at Waterside NO LATER THAN 0915, if any players are travelling direct to the ground then please again inform Matt or I so we know and are not leaving without a full squad. Club tops are to be worn.
Team will be selected from the following squad:-
Craig Mannering, Tom Head, Liam Smith, Micky Doyle, Mike Hodges, Matt Collins, Glenn Mackett, Lee Milton, Ryan Fitzgerald, Liam Holman, Paul Burt, Steve Harris, Jon Douglas, Aaron Neil, Emmanuel Awuni, Shqipron Ahmetaj
