Matt Barham quits as manager
Shock news coming out of the Green camp tonight is that Sunday Firsts manager Matt Barham has tendered his resignation. Barham, 47, who worked with Richie Moore last season and helped guide the squad to retaining the Bodkin Cup and second spot in the local Premier Division, stated: “It is a combination of the time it takes and my family and work commitments that has brought me to notify the club of my resignation. By going now, the club can appoint a new manager in good time to prepare for next season. I thank everybody at the Green for their backing and will of course continue to support the club in all it is trying to achieve”.
The club issued a short statement tonight: “The Executive sincerely thanks Matt for all his efforts on our behalf and also Paula for her work and support on cup final days. It has come as a big blow but we will now sit down and consider options for a replacement. Expressions of interest should be lodged by email with The Patron or Chairman who will be pleased to outline the club’s requirements for this important post”.
