I suppose that there are many within the club that have been wondering when the first Chairman’s comment for this season would be appearing on the club website. I was too… so thought I should say a few words now that all the teams have had a little run out!
Well, what should I talk about that would make all of you guys and the few gals get interested. What about how well Scotland nearly did against Spain? Or how boring were England against Montenegro? At least in the Spain game there were 5 goals!!
Maybe I have all of you up and interested now?
Since the start of this new season, we as a Club have been watching with bated breath at the new faciities going up around us. There has been much debate, some of which I wish the people would keep to themselves, as it has been very negative, about where are we going to train when it starts to get to dark. Well you all know where we are training at the moment, and that is where we will train until we (executive) can arrange to train at the new facility. Having been at every Tuesday night training since it started back in July (How many players can say the same) I can honestly say that it is does make a significant difference to your performance on match day. In the last week there has been so much asked of me as your Chairman about the cost, how much do players have to pay, who has what what part of the facility, and so on, that I wonder whether we are all talking off of the same hymn sheet.
I think that training is vitally important. It makes you better than your opponents, makes you feel good, and most importantly bonds the team as a unit. So those new players that are not coming to training please note. Make the effort, as I would like to meet you and get to know you.
We have some new faces to the club this year, as well as some old faces, sorry Barry, Danny, Steve and Paul but I hope that this time we have you staying for the long haul. All the teams have the potential to do something this year, I can only say that it will be achieved by all of us working together . I hope we can achieve that success together.
The very best of luck to all of you, but remember we do this for nothing and to enjoy ourselves. So make sure that you do, whether you are a player, manager, or supporter.
Stan
