    Chairmans Report April 14th
I have just returned from a Ground Inspection at Waterside this morning for promotion to the Premier Division. Only a few minor details to sort out but they will get done. I would like to thank Trent and Jacqui for making the place look good, especially for clearing the litter in the MUGA, which is technically not our responsibility. Further to that I have confirmed with the Council that we will soon have our own wheely bins enclosed in their grounds, which will be a blessing for a lot of us with the problems we continue to have with rubbish. In my conversation with Kareen at ABC regarding this I mentioned that we had cleared the MUGA rubbish which went down well.
I hope so far nobody has fallen asleep with their Ovaltine at their side (Trent !), but all these things along with the start this Saturday of the Youth Project and Under 10s training, are part of what in the background the Club is committed to do. Like spending over £1,000 to get 5-a-side goals, which will not only be used for our Club competition in the summer but will be used regulary at training with the youngsters.
I am delighted as the Chairman to be able to talk about our first taste of success this season, after the Sunday 1st team’s triumph in bringing the Premier Division Cup back to the Green. Well done Steve and all the lads. This as Steve has said should be the kick start to what could be a great season for the Club. Two more possible Cups to be won, and the League still in our grasp. Keep at it and just take one game at a time lads.
The Saturday 1st team are firing on all cylinders with 2 Finals to come and the League in our own hands. I know that we have lots of games coming thick and fast, and I know how angry we all are about Premier calling off the other night. Rest assured the League have had a strong letter from me regarding that farce. The outcome of which we will just have to wait and see. I know Dave would wish to win the League by playing every game, and that is what I would say too, so rise above it, forget it and show the rest just how good a squad you are, as everyone at the club are right behind you. Just be careful with your discipline, as it could be crucial and we do not want players banned from what is going to be a crucial period of the season.
I am also delighted that the Sat 2nds are back at the top and the League is in your own hands. Both squads deserve great credit, and with the games to come I am sure there will be call ups, so be prepared and keep fit.
Again with the Sat 3rds, what an achievement in their first season, to finish probably runners up at least. I can only say well done. Some of you are going to spend a long time at the Club, and you are part of the future.
This Sunday we are back at Homelands to support our Sunday 2nds in the Sheber Trophy Final. I know how much it means to Ian and Trent to get there, but it means nothing if you lose. So to all the Squad – good luck and make sure you give it your best shot – and win. Then you can concentrate on climbing up the League.
These are heady times at our Club at the moment, all very positive, which can only be good for the future. what with the Race night on the 23rd april at the ground (Please support this), the introduction of the Under 10s, the Waterside 6-a-side tournament in July, and the re-introduction of the 100 club things are on the up. It takes everyone involved in the club to get there, so all I ask is for ALL of you to keep positive and keep us there.

I would like to finish off my report to you all, by mentioning how pleased and delighted it was to see young Ryan Holloway with a pint of beer in his hand at last Sunday’s final. Everything is put into proportion in life when someone so young has gone through what he has recently. Ian and the family know that all of us at Bromley Green will do anything to assist in his ongoing rehabilitation. I wish you a speedy and full recovery Ryan.

So wear the jersey with pride, give it your best, and the very best of SCOTTISH luck to you all for the rest of the season. (Wake up Trent!)

  4. good luck to all teams, all divisions.
