Illsley keeps his calm to gain Reserves last minute win over leaders APM while the Thirds bounce back to record brilliant cup win at Smarden

All the details later but what a fantastic day for the Green with new capture Stuart Taylor and substitute Matt Illsley notching the goals that brought a 2-1 victory over previously unscathed APM Reserves at Waterside on Saturday. Taylor, along with fellow back-line members Richard Floyd, Martyn Dalby and Jamie Hurst, was immense while Illsley came off the bench to hammer home the penalty winner at the death. Then the icing on the cake, with the Thirds opening their League Cup campaign with a brilliant 5-2 win at Cornes Meadow – what a way to answer last week’s drubbing at Gatefield. Smarden had plenty of the play but succumbed to goals from Shqipron Ahmetaj (2), Ollie Prior, Jordan Griffin and Ryan Prior. All the details later from the managers who understandably are over the moon with these two great results.
