At a moving service, we said farewell to our esteemed Vice President, Mark Stanley, yesterday morning. A large number came to pay their respects, including former players Micky Owen, John Webster, Mark Mason, Chris Wood and Paul Plumridge … apologies to those I may have [inadvertently] missed. Club officers attending were Dave Homewood [Honorary Patron], Stanley Donald [Chairman], Shane Cowley [Vice Chairman] and Vice Presidents John Kelly, Bob Mummery, Jamie Allan, Dave Andrews, Ian Holloway, Gary Holloway, Mark Day, Harry Hills, Alvin Gigg.
The club will be making a donation to the RNLI and anyone wishing to contribute is asked to liaise with Dave Homewood before next Friday please when we will transfer money over. In memory of Mark, his brother Peter has consented to the club providing a new major trophy to be presented annually at awards night. More details later but Peter is keen that the accolade is related to young people moving through into senior football.
