Report by Rob Finn
Today we made the short trip to High Halden the boys started the game strongly creating numerous chances but not finding the net and we was punished for a mistake in midfield when we lost possession and High Halden capitalised and went 1-0 up
The boys were stunned but kept battling for an equaliser but chances went begging a string of fine saves from Nathan kept us in the game HT 1-0 I made a change at the break brining Dre on for Jaden again we started strongly and within ten minutes of the restart the equaliser came when lash put ilja through on goal who calmly slotted home 1-1
Conan began to cause problems down the right wing which led to a second shortly afterwards when gift got on the end of a cross and fired home 1-2 time for more 2 more changes bringing on Ben for Kieron and Jamie for ilja the boys kept pressing for further goals and were rewarded when Jamie got on the end of a cross a slotted home 1-3 the boys put themselves under a bit of pressure in the closing stages after Nathan [pictured] had made a wonderful save their striker got on the rebound and scored in the last minute 2-3 Piotr was brilliant at centre back today making some great tackles and covering well. I made my last change of the game for the last 10 minutes bringing Oliver on for Brendan.
MOTM today was Nathan for some brilliant goalkeeping voted for by the parents. Final score 2-3 to the Green.
U8s Colts report by Thomas Habgood
Another day done with all the training we do in midweek got down the pan! They all play well in training and then match day it’s all gone out the window. We even scored first and me thinking YES we got it then it’s all gone. The boys run but the older boys just run faster and my under 7 just cannot keep up. I know they try and I am pleased. It funny they know where they should play but 3 players going for one ball and leaving the park open on the other side … I hope they don’t get upset but they cannot keep letting in goals like this. Next week I am putting a new goalkeeper in and keeping 2 players back. Anyway, like I said, all done we scored two goals. The boys I keep back seem to float away somewhere else. That’s life and one day we will get it right. I give all the boys 10 out of 10 for trying.
Fantastic display by the Under 8s!
Top class entertainment provided by the Under 8s today … we are not permitted to give results but we can record that Phoebe hit a hat trick with further goals from Reegan, Austyn (pen) and Liam. Well done to all the boys and girls!
Match summary from James Porter
Very impressive showing from all players today away from home at South Ashford! Every player had an impact across the pitch, with very direct attacking and playing as a team giving us an advantage on a very changeable day weather wise.
A special mention needed for the hat-trick hero Pheobe who showed her quality running past the opposition multiple times throughout the match, however for sheer persistence and a noticeable improvement (scoring a goal) this week’s MOTM was awarded to Reegan Sheridan which I hope is the start of a new attitude for his development in football.
Extremely proud coach today! Thanks James.
Well done Reegan … our McDonalds Player of the Match
Fantastic comeback by the U13s but Hoppers snatch last gasp winner
Coming back from 4-0 down to level at four apiece, the lads were desperately unlucky to come away pointless today. The whole team played well with a special mention for Brayden who, when an opponent suffered a panic attack, stayed to comfort him the whole time. True sportsmanship. Tom Baker rammed in all four but this was a real squad effort and demonstrates the battle that is now on for places. So, 5-4 to our visitors but well done to all the boys; the management is so proud of you. Hold your heads high despite this narrow defeat. See you Monday at training when we will present the Player of the Match trophy and BGFC voucher afterwards; plus confirm you are all definites for the Butlins Tournament. Charlie, Dave, Pete
