We made the long trip to Trinity for our 3rd game of the season with both teams currently unbeaten. We only had 11 players for various reasons and that meant some players were playing out of their recognised positions – fortunately most of the squad have the skills to adapt!

A great start, going 1-0 up thanks to debutant Alex Allan. He did just what we paid the transfer fee for – ran onto a long ball, out muscled the defender and coolly slotted home. After that we were constantly under pressure from a very physical Trinity. We could not get control of the ball as we seemed intimidated in every challenge. With 5 minutes to go they equalised to level the score at 1-1 for half time.

Alex returned to playing with two goals as the Green go top of the EKYL table

The 2nd half was a different affair. Whilst the challenges were still flying in the boys played football on the ground and began to dominate. 15 mins in and a Cam free kick struck the post and Alex P was on hand to lash in the rebound. 10 mins later and Alex A was on the score sheet again, this time holding off 2 defenders! Trinity pulled one back but Reece sealed the win with a great lob (from an outstanding Cameron ball) to make the final score 4-2.

Each and every player gave their all today. No subs and a very physical opposition meant they came off battered and exhausted. However, they fully deserved their win with a combination of skilful football in the middle and up front and a determined back 5 who were excellent. Special mentions to Josh and Ryan who played out of position at the back – both were superb. A brilliant debut from Alex A who really let Trinity’s defence know he was there. Man of the match goes to Ryan for a faultless display in defence. Well done boys! Sean Phelan

Birthday cake tonight for Lennon Spencer and Kacper Haniewicz!

Green climb to the top of the table
Ashford United Colts 0-5 Bromley Green
natural-hair-1Plenty of good football on show from both sides but the Green had the penetration where it mattered, taking their chances, and moving to the top of the table. Superb displays from some of the very young lads augurs well for the future with the goals coming from Levii, Tom Moon, Matt Wedge (2) and Reece Chapman. Well done boys! Next week we have a rest from league action with a home Sheber Cup tie against Locomotive Reserves (10.30am).
