Report from Sean Phelan
We travelled to Dover for our first game against St Margaret’s. Whilst we had played them before in tournaments, this was the first time we had met them in a competitive league. They were last seasons Division 2 champions and so far this season they have had mixed results with 2 wins and 2 losses. On current form we looked clear favourites. However, you cannot take anything for granted in this league as it’s the closest I have known and that turned out to be the case.

From kick off we were under pressure and did not get out of our own half for the first 5 minutes. On our first break, the ball was played through to Alex A who held off the defender and slotted home. From that point on St Margaret’s dominated the half. They were the first in every challenge and loose ball. Our touch let us down and we probably played our worst half of football so far this season. A mix up at the back allowed them to equalise and on the stroke of half time their striker waltzed through three challenges and scored via a tame shot. We went in at the break 2-1 down. We stuck to our formation for the 2nd half as both the coaches and the boys knew we had the quality to win this match. For the next 40 minutes we totally bossed the game. We hit the post, the bar and missed a penalty before Alex A belted in his 2nd from just inside the box. It was 2-2, game on. Again we pummeled their goal but their keeper kept us at bay. With less than a minute to go Alex A lobbed the keeper for his hat trick, our 3rd and the match winner!
Special mentions to today for Alex P who was tremendous at the back (I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone head the ball away as many times in a single game) and Cam for a brilliant and dominant 2nd half performance in midfield. Also a big welcome for debutant Max.
Man of the match goes to Alex A for another combative display and 3 well taken goals.
A final thank you to Olly Keepers dad for running the line – much appreciated.
Well done boys for a great team performance.

Defeat for Sunday seniors
No further details in as yet but a goal by Matt Wedge proved insufficient for the seniors today against Adington, with the visitors winning 2-1.

Reflecting upon yesterday, firstly, a big thank you to all those who defied the elements to enable the matches and EKYL U10 Festival to go ahead as planned. Terrific team effort … well done all!

2016-11-12-leo-kingslandGood experience and fun for the players and, as always, our goalkeeper supreme Leo [left] loved the mud!

As well as Bromley Green, we were pleased to welcome Margate Youth, Folkestone Invicta, Hawkinge Youth, Kennington Juniors and Herne Bay Harriers.

Next Saturday is the final Festival we are staging this year and we look forward to welcoming the U8 sides from the ADYL (note registration is 9am in readiness for a 9.30am start).

Youngest teams starting to shine

Patience is reaping its rewards for our two youngest sides, the U8s and U8 Colts. We are not permitted to publish results but the boys and girls are doing really well. Here are a few images from a very successful Saturday away from home at The Rype.
