Report on the Under 15s EKYL 1-1 draw for the U15s
We were away this Sunday for our second match against local rivals Kennington. The first match ended in a 1-1 draw after we had spurned several good chances so we felt confident today. Unfortunately we were once again without our regular keeper Olly though injury, so Angus took on keeping duties for the second time this season.

The game got under way and became quite scrappy as there was a lot of passion on both sides. After 10 mins Alex A showed his strength and pace to hold off the defenders and struck the post. 10 minutes later he was brought down by their keeper but nothing was given for what was a clear penalty. Alex continued to pose a threat and a great ball over the top from Louis found Alex who stayed calm and lobbed the keeper to put us 1-0 up at half time.
We started to dominate the second half and again missed a few good chances including a header coming off the crossbar. With less than 20 mins to go, failure to clear the ball from our box allowed Kennington to pull a goal back. That gave them a lift and one of their strikers was put through on goal only to be thwarted by a great challenge from Ryan – but the ref gave a penalty! It was clear for all to see it wasn’t a penalty but some very vocal pressure from the opposition seemed to sway the ref. However, a stunning save from stand in keeper Angus kept the score level. We once again went on the attack and had a goal harshly disallowed for offside in the dying minutes.
Final score was 1-1 but I truly believe we deserved all 3 points. Stand out performances today from both wingers Louis and Kuba. Jack H again had a tremendous game keeping their pacy winger  (and his Saturday team mate) well under control. Ex Kennington player Max B had a point to prove and prove it he did! A fantastic display in the centre of the park, he was aggressive but disciplined. However, man of the match goes to Alex P. He was brilliant last week but even better this week against a very powerful striker. Great heading, tackling and vision so we will forgive him his yellow card! Well done Alex and the whole squad. Still unbeaten, a week off next week, then a visit to league leaders Margate on the 18th.
