Ilja hat trick as U14s impress; Report from Rob Finn

Today we welcomed High Halden to Waterside but the boys seemed to be half asleep for the first 20 minutes and found themselves 0-2 down from some sloppy defending on the right hand side. After that the boys woke up and pulled one back when Ilja slotted home from Conan’s cross and Dre’s wonderful solo strike just before the break levelled things up HT 2-2 had a few words with the boys about their mistakes and it paid off as the boys took control of the game and went ahead for the first time when Conan crossed once again and Ilja fired a low drive into the corner of the net for his second and the teams third for 3-2.  Some great defending by Charlie kept High Halden at bay and when they did break through Nathan denied them with a couple of good saves. Charlie also cleared one shot off the line from a set piece. A great counter attack from Conan down the right flank resulting in a fourth goal which he converted himself with a great strike giving the keeper no chance 4-2. The team sensed victory and Ilja got his hat trick when Kieron passed a lovely ball through for him to slot past the advancing keeper 5-2. They weren’t finished yet and wanted more and the sixth was soon to come when Conan made a wonderful run and crossed into the box where Jaden was waiting and he calmly slotted home 6-2.
With only a minute to go a sloppy mistake cost us a goal when the ball wasn’t cleared and the visitors striker pounced and slotted home to give a final score of 6-3. A very entertaining game by both teams with my Player of the Match today going to Charlie for some outstanding defending. Well done all who took part.

Six goals shared by U13s and Wye: Report by Charlie Fletcher
Today we played well we  went behind 3 times to to wye to finish the game 3-3 great game by Len at the back to keep us in it. Lorry had a good game as well. Heads did not drop and showed real team spirit to stay in it. Man of the match was Brayden for outstanding team play  but could have been one of 3 players. Hardest Man of match I’ve had to give so far keep it up see u all at training.

The U13s are building a promising squad with Brayden outstanding in another victory
