Super Sunday as seniors and U15s record vital victories

After the mixed fortunes of yesterday, it was all positives at Waterside today with the seniors beating league leaders Ashstone Galacticos 4-3 and the U15s keeping their title aspirations alive with a 7-1 win over Faversham Town.

Ryan Ford (2), James Haylock-Ashdown and Cameron Lumsden netted as we overcome Galacticos for the second game running. Report on the U15s from Sean is below. Brilliant! Well done all involved.

Louis is our Player of the Match against Faversham Town

Our first game of 2017 saw us at home for only the 2nd time all season against Faversham Town. We had never played them before so did not know what to expect. Going by league positions we looked favourites but there can always be an upset.

As it was we started well and were 1-0 up inside 5 mins with our first attack of the game thanks to Alex A. It was the prolific Alex who put us further ahead after 20 mins, again with an assist from Louis. However, Faversham are not a bad side and the 3-0 scoreline at half time didn’t do justice to their tenacious play.
In the second half we started to dominate once we began to play a passing game and the goals flowed. Whilst the order is hazy with me, the scorers were Alex A (4), Reece (2) and Cam (1). Alex only needs a sniff at goal and he scores and Reece scored with 2 great headers – all about his positioning given he is not the tallest in the team. The goal of the game however was Cams. Brilliant control and fantastic volley a la Gascoigne against Scotland!
The final score was 7-1 but, with a bit more composure in front of goal, we could have had more. Whilst Olly Keeper didn’t have too much to do he pulled off a Premier League quality save in the first half, tipping a fierce drive around the post – I haven’t seen better all season.
Stand out performances today from Alex A for his clinical finishing, Angus for some awesome last ditch tackles and Jack H for being tireless. Man of the match however goes to Louis. 3 assists and by far the most passes and completion rate of the entire team. The majority of our attacks came via his simple play and great through balls.Well done Louis.
Great result boys and another team performance. Well done.
