Unlucky U15s suffer 1-0 home defeat … report from Sean Phelan

U15s Man of the Match is Oliver Mitchell

U15s Man of the Match is Oliver Mitchell

A frustrating afternoon with our unbeaten run ending in a 1-0 defeat at home to Trinity.
A close game with few chances at either end that Trinity just edged. They had a couple of new players who were very good (particularly no 8) which meant they, like us, were strong in every area. Whilst taking nothing away from Trinity we had several players who were definitely under the weather and we missed our up front focal point Alex A.
Trinity dominated the 1st half, albeit we had the best chance and Kuba was unlucky to hit the side netting. Trinity took the lead just after half time and the 2nd half was a see saw affair with both teams having periods of dominance. They had a few attempts on goal which Olly M dealt with and our attacks invariably ended with the offside flag going up. Kuba was flagged offside at least half a dozen times but he’s too intelligent a player to keep making that kind of mistake and both parents and players voiced their frustration at the decisions.
Excellent performances today from Josh, who played at both left and right back and Alex P who consistently performs well. Ollie H was also excellent in midfield challenging for everything and winning the majority.
Man of the match however goes to keeper Olly M. He dominated his area, was quick (and brave) to dive at feet and never fumbled a thing. He genuinely kept the score respectable, well done Ollie.

Sunday: clubhouse open from 9am

Skoda CaffynsGood luck to the Sunday seniors away to Ashford Spartans (10.30am), the BG Valiants at home to Canterbury City (10.30am) and this afternoon the EKYL U15s also at home to Trinity (2pm).

Player of the Match for the U15/16s: Angus

The boys unfortunately lost 3-4 today against New Romney. The final result didn’t reflect their efforts today, they played really well, especially in the first half.
Man of the match was Angus, who was consistent throughout the whole match & played great football.

U14s off colour

Today we welcomed Biddenden to waterside the boys didn’t seem to be at the races today and two mistakes at the back in the first 20 minutes cost them 2 goals and if it wasn’t for Nathan could of been further behind as he made a few good saves when called upon .HT 0-2 I had a stern chat with them at the break and made a couple of changes and it seemed to work as they started the second half the stronger of the sides and was pressing with some good football and when Conan broke through he was taken down in the box and the ref pointed to the spot Dre stepped up to take but the keeper saved but Ilya was there to fire home the rebound  1-2 and soon after the scores were level when Brendan put Ilja through on goal who calmly slotted home 2-2 the boys continued to press  but chances for lash Kieron and Dre all went begging when really the game should of been finished off but the tide turned when the boys began to tire and were  caught out on 3 occasions with some sloppy play which cost them 3 goals
final score 2-5 a bad defeat today but onwards and upwards and let’s take the positives to Rye next Saturday and get back to winning ways .MOTM today was Ilja for his 2 goals and some good football .

Well done Alfie! U12s Player of the Match
