Under 14s late penalty winner: report from Rob Finn

Kieron’s treble helped us to 6-5 win at Waterside

Today we welcomed Biddenden to Waterside for a friendly which was to be my last game as U 14 manager and the boys didn’t disappoint as they played excellent. Taking an early lead when KIERON headed home a corner from Piotr 1-0, they kept pressing and causing the Biddenden defence all sorts of problems and won a corner again which PIOTR took and KIERON made it 2-0. We were playing some lovely football and a powerful run from Conan resulted in him making it 3-0 and just before the break GIFT converted a free kick to make it 4-0 at HT.

Second half the boys stepped off the gas and let Biddenden back into the game and before we knew it the game was level at 4-4 but a good strike from ILJA put us back in front 5-4 some good saves from the Biddenden keeper kept the scores down as he made saves from Brendan, Ilja and Gift and in the last 10 minutes some sloppy defending made the game all level once again st 5-5.

The boys were not finished though and in the last couple of minutes Conan made a run into the box and was taken down and we were awarded a penalty which KIERON converted to make it 6-5; which was to be the final score. A big well done to all the players today for a brilliant game. MoTM today was KIERON for his  3 well taken goals. Regards Rob.
