Early Sunday … getting ready for another busy day at Waterside

Under 9s report
Well done to the U9s yesterday, you all played well against some tough opposition but managed to win a couple of games and drew one and scored plenty of goals with Matteo netting five. Proud of you all!
Player of the tournament today goes to Matteo for his hat trick against Wye and some great football well done everybody.
Regards Rob

Bromley Green and Kennington U15s who featured in the final of the day with the visitors clinching matters in extra time. Great entertainment and played in a sporting spirit … well done both teams!

U15s report from Carl Hamilton

The boys started strongly and breezed through the group with goals from Cam (3), Max and Ryan. We were playing well and looking solid but had the unenviable task of facing our colleagues in the semis. I think it was fair to say that we were the underdogs against a extremely talented side. The boys started well and got a goal they deserved with Max lashing home. We had chances to extent the lead but just couldn’t take them. The talent they had they were always going to create chances but the boys battled hard and were superb defensively. They saw the game out to go through to the final where we would face Kennington.
The final was very even with both sides having chances. They went ahead in fortunate circumstance with the ball deflected into our own net. The boys showed amazing character and went straight down the other end to score a superb team goal which Louis finished off.  The game played out and we went to extra time. In extra time Kennington snatched the lead again and this time despite all the boys efforts we couldn’t find the goal we needed. I’m extremely proud of the boys today who were superb throughout. Well done lads!

Grant Turner reports from Waterside

Bromley Green fielded 2 teams in the under 10s tournament with Pat kindly taking the B team (report by Pat to follow). Thank you Pat for your help.
Bromley Green A was Jamie, Cameron, Orlando, Harry, Barnaby, Leo and Kieran Branch from the under 9s.
The boys played 5 group games winning 1 game and drawing 3 games with 1 loss. The team advanced to the semi-finals and in a thrilling game which was end to end came away with a 1 all draw which ment extra time. That came and went with no further goals so it was down to penalties. Unfortunately the team lost 3 goals to 2. There were a lot of positives from the tournament with all the boys playing very well, they did the club proud. Of note in the group games the game which we lost with a 1 nil score line was to Pilgrims ‘A’ who won the tournament and  they beat all the other teams in the group by at least 3 goals so our team did very well.
So from a very proud manager I want to thank the boys for all their hard work and also those boys and girl that played in our other team including Matteo and Bobby (Lisa’s daughter) who came and played at short notice.
Grant
