Tommy Habgood loses his brave battle with cancer

Sad news as Green Youth Coach Tommy Habgood passes away

Happier days – Tom was a one-off loved by all

It is our duty to report the terrible news that another member of the Green family has passed away. Popular youth coach Thomas Habgood lost his battle with cancer at 3.30am on Thursday 17 August 2017.

Thomas could often be heard yelling instructions at the kids in his own indefatigable way; but they still loved him as it was his passion and enthusiasm for them to do well that will leave an indelible impression. He was not one for political correctness and was a one-off that would help anyone.

The club issued a short statement this afternoon:

“Our thoughts are with Frankie, Dan and young Tom at this awful moment. Life isn’t fair and adults and children alike are devastated. We had feared the worst for Tom for a while but now he has gone there is a huge gap in our club. On behalf of everyone at Tom’s extended family, we send thanks for all his work on behalf of the children, never seeking glory for himself. Activities will continue as normal as that is what Tom himself would have wished and all Bromley Green teams are to observe a minutes applause or silence this weekend.”

Gone but never forgotten – RIP Thomas Habgood
