The weekend is here after a week of differing emotions

Clubhouse open on Saturday from 9am

Get better soon Tyler!

Have a thought for new U8s player Tyler … he hasn’t played a game yet but suffered a fractured wrist at training on Thursday! Get better soon Tyler

What a week!

I cannot recall experiencing seven days of such emotional ups and downs as the week just past. A wonderful day celebrating the life of former Manager and Vice President Mark Stanley contrasted by the deaths of two of our close family, Irene Stafford and Thomas Habgood.

As far as possible, we have carried on as normal … exactly what our departed would have wished. A floral tribute will be laid in Australia for Irene on Tuesday while we are  awaiting details of arrangements from Tom’s family.

So, three families that have given so much to others and we are all the poorer … on behalf of everyone here, I can only say ‘thank you’. The cherished memories remain. Dave Homewood (Patron).

Saturday’s fixtures

This morning our Under 15s stage an attractive match against Hastings United with an 11am kick off. Definitely missing are captain Conan Wyer and defender Charlie Ward who are both on holiday – but the squad just needs games to get our act in order for what will be a busy season.

Also at home are the Under 13s who welcome Hythe for a 9-a-side friendly with both sides desperate for competitive action to get in the swing of things. Again kick off is at 11am. There is still room for a couple more players and anyone that might be interested is invited to ring either James on 07850541747 or Lisa on 07713450042.

The action turns to the seniors after lunch with the visit of Rye Town for a 2.30pm kick off.

On the clubhouse TV today: Swansea v Manchester United (12.30pm)

For more details and arrangements for Sunday, please refer to the Events & Fixtures page

Reminder to all managers: BG teams are to observe a minutes silence or applause for Irene and Thomas this weekend … thank you
