Wednesday 6 September 2017: It’s Green v Albert in the Charity Trophy

Statement from the EKYL received 9.15am

“After many hours spent by members of your League Committee over recent weeks, it is with regret that owing to technical issues with Full-Time and the Whole Game System not of our making your League Committee have no alternative but to postpone the start of Season 2017/18. At this time we remain unsure of the timescales required by the FA to rectify the position and to allow sufficient time we will now commence League fixtures from the weekend of 30 Sept/1 Oct.
Please note all Festivals will continue as scheduled by Jon Barrett.
I would thank you for your understanding at this time and please advise our 5,000 players & their parents we are doing everything we can to resolve this.”

Clubhouse open today from 4.30pm

Well, as is customary, it piddled hard on a Tuesday night! But credit to the 20+ lads who attended training for the U15s and it was great to see some of the U14s joining our ranks. Well done to my mate Michael Lee for keeping control! See you all again on Thursday for a prompt 6pm start. You can’t all play on Saturday but let’s go forward together and make it an enjoyable season.

Also a mention for the seniors who braved the elements … well done boys and thanks to Ian and Gary for a great session. Big games at the weekend … come on boys let’s make it a win double.

Training is on this evening for our Adult and U16 Valiants and the U9s, U10s, U11s (friendly home to Pilgrims) and U12s plus Carl and his EKYL U16s. The nights are starting to draw in, so can we all please be on time … thank you.

Ashford Charity Trophy

Two fascinating draws for the Green in the Ashford Charity Trophy. Fred represented us last night at their meeting and we have been paired at home with Towersview in the Saturday competition and entertain Prince Albert in the Sunday section. Should make for great entertainment.

We send our best wishes to long-serving official Geoff Wickens whom we understand is very ill … a great servant to football and hopefully you will soon be on the mend Geoff.
