Today we made the trip to the Marsh where the boys got off to a great start taking an early lead through Kieran they past the ball around nicely and created chance after chance and were soon rewarded with a second when Matteo fired home. The defence were solid and Riley was excellent in goal when called upon and just before the break Matteo got his second goal HT 0-3. Second half started again well and 10 minutes in some great play from the boys saw them get a fourth goal 0-4. In the last 15 minutes they began to tire and conceeded 3 silly goals but held on for the victory. PoTM today was Alfie for some all round play and hitting the bar twice with good headers. Well done all who took part. Cheers Rob.
Under 8s brilliant display
And we’re off to a flyer – 10 out of 10 for the boys today for a great effort and concentration. Everyone worked hard and we were 5-0 winners against Wye. Clean sheet for Brad, a brace for Jake and a hat trick for Player of the Match Lucas. Well in boys … Greeeeeeen Army! Martyn Smith
Today marked the first league game of the new U7 team against Biddenden Juniors and I’m sure everyone that was there enjoyed a very thrilling and entertaining game.
The whole game was evenly matched, however Biddenden went into the break 0-1 up and we were unlucky to have not scored ourselves
However after the Half Time team talk they went out for the 2nd half ready for action.
The team were unlucky to concede another goal but from 0-2 down the Green boys soon replied with a great goal from Ben Buckowski. Which seemed to inspire the teams performance and give them the boost of confidence they needed. Another goal soon followed and this goal came through great team work and was put in the net by the 2 goal eventual Man Of The Match Ben.
The team looked like they were learning all the time and they had a few chances to go ahead and win the game but just could get it past posts due to some good goal keeping! Our keeper Henry Crocker also made some really great saves to keep us in the game.
The final whistle went at 2-2 the whole team showed the famous Green spirit and for their first ever league game performed really well; the parents and football club should be very proud of this young team.
Green: Henry Crocker, Ethan Webb, Callum World, Stephen Houghton, Harvey Freelove, Ben Buckowski
Thank you to Pat Penfold for setting up the pitch and being our ref for the game.
Well done and Well played boys !
Mark ‘Spud’ Smith
Happy birthday this Sunday to one of our latest recruits, Harvey Freelove!
Well done Jake!
Bromley Green Vets … first game is against The Oystermen
Time we really got this going as the quality amongst our ‘Old Boys’ is phenomenal. Whitstable Vets are our first opponents on Saturday 7 October with a 1.30pm kick off at Waterside. Sid (07391902851) is putting the squad together. Sid is also looking at starting a Bat & Trap side to play Friday evenings … give him a call or better still have a chat with him in the clubhouse.
Two home games to whet the appetite plus SKY football
Gary Gibbs and co welcome Charing Reserves this morning (10.30am) and the value of a large squad comes into play even this early in the campaign with Kieran Shrimpton, Josh Ahmad and Ashley Webster amongst the absentees. But the boys have a tantalising blend of youth and experience and must start as favourites.
Bromley Green v Charing Sunday Reserves
Channel Cars v Kingsnorth Pilgrims
Fox Sunday v Sellindge SSC
Givaudan v Ashford Spartans
It’s Burnley v Palace (1.30pm) on the clubhouse TV with HAPPY HOUR from 1pm to 2pm [cash only, and to be consumed on the premises]. Special offers for members and guests will be on display in the clubhouse.
After lunch, Carl and Shane will relish the chance of another look at their charges when Kennington Juniors visit for a friendly (2pm). Alex Allan and Lenny Russell have returned to the fold which is great news while Saturday lads Jordan Osborne, Ilja Seleznovs and Kai Sutton have all signed forms both days. The nonsense of the league being put back a few weeks may actually work in our favour as a really strong squad is being assembled. Free refreshments will be supplied afterwards for both teams. A £5 voucher to the BG player of the match will be presented and this season all vouchers must be redeemed on the day.
