Local football stalwart passes away
It is our sad duty to report that local football stalwart Phil Castle has passed away after a long battle with illness. Phil gave so much time to Bethersden FC and what was then Ashford Town FC as chairman as well as supporting our local leagues. The club sends heartfelt condolences to Pip, Emma and family. RIP Phil – a true gent who will be greatly missed by us all.
The U7s played Mersham Spitfires today but firstly I would like to say how well the boys respected the minutes silence and understood why it was taking place.
The game itself was very entertaining and the boys gave a good account of themselves against a strong and well organised Mersham team who also played very well.
Henry in goal in for the first half made some excellent saves and did well on pitch in the second half.
We went close to scoring on several occasions with Harvey hitting the post and Ben , Callum and Stephen all going close and the Mersham goalie made some good saves.
Ethan and Callum made some good tackles in defence and the passing is improving throughout the team.
The game was very well refereed y Harry Relph.
POM – Callum for his tackling and passing.
Squad – Henry , Callum , Ben , Ethan , Harvey, Stephen
Thanks to the parents and grandparents for their support and assistance. Trev
