The ups and downs of a weekend! Epitomised by the thumping win for the seniors on Sunday morning followed by a narrow 2-1 defeat at home to Herne Bay for the U16s. Max Bourne had given the Green a half-time lead with a piledriver from a yard but the Bay, well drilled at the back, snatched the points during an even second period. A match on a sticky surface well refereed by Jim Kelly.
Sunday seniors win again
Goals from Ryan Ford (3), Ashley Webster, Tom Messenger, Connor Gower and Richard Floyd earned a 7-0 victory over a useful Sellindge SSC side on Sunday morning to book our place in the divisional cup semi-finals. Chris Hough was outstanding for the villagers with keeper Louis Burton again immaculate for the Green.
More from a hectic Saturday
Reminder: Watford v West Ham on the clubhouse box after the U16s game Sunday … all welcome!
Under 7s report from Mark Smith
Today we were visited by a strong new Romney side! We matched Romney in the first half with a great performance from Harvey in goal (earning him him player of the match). 2nd half was a different story due to the amount of players that turn up it’s important that all players get a chance in the team ! I know it can be frustrating for spectators but squad rotation is key in youth football . Both sets of players , coaches and spectators were truly an asset to the game and again a great ref performance from Toby. Well done to all involved.
