That was the week that was: 7 days of the good, the bad and the ugly!
The good: The Children’s Christmas Party and thanks are extended to Spud, Nicola, Lisa, Joe and all those who helped to give the kids a great time. Does anyone have photos from the party please, especially including our guest Aaron Davis from McDonalds?
The performances of our youth teams that managed to defy the elements with all managers happy with the endeavours of their charges. Away wins for the U12s and U15s and terrific football from the U11s and U7s (not allowed to give scores).
The bad: The seniors display on Saturday hurt not so much for the score – but more the manner in which the squad failed to prepare and apply itself. A lot of work for Ian Mace to do to get things back on track after such an encouraging start to the campaign.
On Thursday we said our final farewells to Phil Castle senior with a fitting service at Bethersden Church. RIP Phil.
The ugly: The ghastly weather! Saturday’s frost and Sunday’s rain ruined all plans for the U13s, U10s, U9s, U8s and U6s; plus the Sunday seniors were thwarted by a waterlogged ground. In fact, the local Sunday programme was decimated with only one game surviving: Lolzors 6-2 Appledore in Division One. Even the BG Valiants tournament on the Rainham 3G was called off.
