Well, where did that weekend go? The usual mixed bag of success and struggle but hopefully everyone enjoyed the brighter weather (back to normal now!)

Sponsored penalties prove a great hit!
The first of our penalty shoot-outs took place on Saturday with the U7s doing a great job. A huge thank you to Trev and Mark. Scroll down to read Spud’s summing-up. [More pictures to follow on our GREEN ARMY and BROMLEY GREEN FC facebook pages].
On Saturday 13/01/18 the under 7 team had their sponsored penalty shoot out.
We had a good turn out with 8 out of the 10 signed on players there (we were missing Ben due to an injury he had at school and Henry who had other commitments on the day. We will of course give both players the chance to take their penalties at a later date so their sponsorship money can still be collected).
Harvey was in goal for a total of 70 penalties saving 37 of them, so a great performance by him.
All the players scored penalties and it was a great chance for Trevor to teach the boys some penalty taking techniques. Stephen [pictured] scored the most penalties on the day.
The total sponsorship so far for this event is £274.45 and the top sponsor money from one player award was Ibrahim with £56.50.
Well done and a big thank you to those that helped on the day.
The money raised today is for our team and I know we will put it to good use.
More good news for the U7 team is we now have a sponsor for next season so looking forward to seeing the players in a brand new kit for the start of the u8 season.
Thank you again for your support.
Editor’s note: a special get-together for the awards for all participating players will be arranged when every girl/boy has taken their spot kicks. Awards in each team will include most penalties scored and most sponsorship money raised. The dates for each age group are on the Events & Fixtures page.
Under 9s report from Matt Church
We travelled to Homelands to take on Ashford Athletic . Once again it was a fantastic team effort we took a squad of 12 and all played a vital role. The quality in depth for this age group is so pleasing with all players improving and learning every week. Thank you to our 2 stand in keepers Travis and Brad with some excellent saves both keeping a clean sheet helped by strong determined defending from Liam, Louis, Phoebe and Henry. Midfielders Tommy, Ellis, Travis, Brad, Lilly and Charlie all worked so hard with forward running and tracking back and are really looking to pass the ball around and the forwards Riley and Reegan are a constant threat finding good space taking the attack to to the other team. Goals scored by Brad this weekend. Well done everyone superb effort.
