Green determined to retain Cup

Gibbs delighted with Green display … 3-0 win for cup holders

Manager Gary Gibbs was full of praise for his squad after a hard-earned cup semi-final victory against old adversaries Channel CFC at Waterside this morning. The goals came from products of the club’s youth system with Man of the Match Kieran Shrimpton setting up Layton Bryant to head in the opener and give a half-time score of 1-0. A brilliant left-foot finish from Connor Gower and another exquisite flick from Bryant sealed a solid victory. A determined display by all the lads as we look forward to another cup final day out at Reachfields against either Fox Sunday or Givaudan. Thanks to all those that came to support, including former manager Richie Moore,  and full marks to officials Adam, Vince and Ian who embraced the spirit of a full-blooded match in trying conditions. Special word for Grant Turner and Brian Edwards, who turned out early to re-mark the lines after yet more rain overnight. Btw, despite all the poachers out there, ALL of the starting eleven evolved through Bromley Green’s youth set-up … fact!
Green: Burton; Shrimpton, Dalby, Floyd, Hurst, Ford, Gower, S Gibbs, Bryant, Milton, Moon. Subs: B Mabb, P Baron, K Friday, J Smith,

The pitch is wet but we hope to stage the Divisional Cup semi-final against Channel CFC (10.30am). At the time of publication (11.30pm Saturday) the tie is on … we just don’t need another drop of rain! Channel, who we defeated last season when they were White Horse, to lift the Cup at Reachfields, will clearly be a huge test for Gary Gibbs and the boys but let’s all get behind the squad and support them.
