Thank you to all those who sponsored our boys and girls in the Fun Penalty Shoot-Outs on Saturday. Fantastic fund raising for your respective teams and with the U12s we will soon be staging a dramatic knock out to decide the winner as three players all tied for first spot. Four teams took part this week (more to follow soon) and their proceeds to date total over £1300 and are itemised below. As explained a while back, there will be a celebration evening arranged when all participants who made the effort will be rewarded. There will also be special prizes for the winners and those raising the most money for their team. Superb effort in abysmal weather … well done!
U8s £336.50 well done, only a few of you, great effort!
U10s £339.00 (still to take their pens: Herk D, David I, Riley G; plus cash from Kieron B). Well done, when they’ve all had a go, you should realise a terrific amount for your team.
U12s £411.30 (cash to come from Aidan and some from Leighton K). Superb … well done!
U13s £219 (cash to come from Freddie; still to take their pens are Igor, Kai, Ike, Jamie and Bobby). Well done and a special mention for Oliver Bell (right) in goal! Again, when everybody has taken their kicks, you potentially have a sizeable lump sum to spend on whatever the squad needs.
The U7s have already completed their spot kicks with just Ben and Henry to set a date for theirs with Spud and/or Trev. So far they have amassed the incredible sum of £274.45 … big effort and we can get this over the £300 mark!
The penalty winners are published in the clubhouse for this non-competitive event! Thanks to all who helped out and we look forward to plenty more penalties in the coming weeks.

Only one game in the ADYL and, in retrospect, we would have been better advised calling it off! Our grounds people can’t win: damned if they call games off and damned if they allow teams to churn up pitches! As it was, in addition to a later defeat for the Saturday seniors, there was another dismal performance by the U15s who succumbed to a solitary High Halden goal. Missed chances, Charlie long-term injured, Youth Clubman Ilja failing to turn up for the second match in a row, Lash in Denmark … add all this up and you have the ingredients for a fifth league defeat. At present, the boys have a week off next Saturday and it might offer a chance to regroup and get things together again.
The only other youth match to take place was the U12s who recorded another useful victory. Welcome to new signing Lewis who adds more quality and strength in depth for Sid’s charges.
More frustration for the U16s who hope to return to the action at Hawkinge next Sunday.
