Birthday greetings (Saturday) to former senior manager Dave Smith
With kinder weather than of late (hopefully!) we look forward to a busy programme this weekend, headed by attractive cup ties for both seniors squads. The Saturday boys, who just haven’t got going since the turn of the year and need to regroup, are away to The Bull in the Ashford Charity Trophy; while on Sunday we host a local derby with Willesborough Athletic in the Sheber Cup. Gary Gibbs however will also have one eye on the crucial Channel Cars v Fox Sunday result in the league with the top two clashing at Swan Lane.
No game for the Under 15s but the Under 13s entertain Willesborough and the Under 12s welcome title aspirants Otford for what should be a cracker. The Under 11s are away to old friends South Ashford while at Waterside there are home matches for the Under 10s (v Mersham) and the Under 8s (v Appledore). Martyn and the boys then visit their sponsors McDonalds.
Sunday sees the BGV Adults off to the Abbey School, Faversham for tournament action as they prepare for the upcoming Peoples Cup. Nick Cook has the penalty fun shoot-out for his younger Valiants in the morning. For all the fixtures and kick off times, please refer to the Events & Fixtures page.
The Under 16s do not have a fixture on Sunday.

Well done to all those who trained on Thursday evening at Norton Knatchbull. Attendance in some of the younger age groups seems to drop dramatically at half-term which is a bit baffling -even accepting that some are away.
A number of parents have enquired as to when the club has its summer break. In short, we don’t! Training and tournaments are continuous throughout the summer and indeed some managers have already stated they need to get back to training twice a week once sessions return to Waterside. Details of when and where training is held are always posted well in advance on the Events & Fixtures page.
Tournaments and Youth Planning
All youth managers are regularly given details of tournaments and it is up to them which events are entered. The club of course pays entry fees and all players on standing orders are entitled to enjoy as many tournaments free of charge as they wish. This will be one of the topics on the agenda at the Youth Meeting on Monday 12 March 2018 at 7.15pm. Before that, however, we have our own BGFC Tournament Planning Meeting 7.15pm on Monday 26 February 2018.
