Into the weekend … with Apex Facades

Clubhouse open Saturday from 7am … please park sensibly … thank you

Birthday greetings today to Kieran Branch!

Friday night urgent update: The U10s match on Saturday is OFF as High Halden cannot raise a side

‘There is no such thing as a former KGB man’ – Vladimir Putin

Happy birthday Friday to Anuj!

A big weekend of football ahead for the club, albeit minus the excitement of the Sunday Cup Final which Hythe Town called off on Thursday. Three points is a must for the Saturday firsts as they travel to basement boys Aylesford; while the U16s will look to get among the goals again against visitors Faversham Strike Force on Sunday (2pm) in the EKYL.

The Under 15s have several missing for the trip to Smeeth & Brabourne. Here is Mark’s squad: Nathan, George, Jack, Frankie, Kai, Jordan, Lashman, Ben, Oliver, David, Jaden, Kieron, Gabriel, Lorenzo, Lennon.

The BG Valiants have a friendly on Saturday morning and the Juniors and U16s take their Fun Penalties on Sunday with Nick and Aaron. Meanwhile the Adults are away on tournament duty, meeting at the club at 8am for their bacon rolls and coffee!

James is now recruiting for the U13s (U14s next season) and new players are welcome to report at 8am on Saturday for a practice session that will begin preparations for the Bognor trip, the summer tournaments and of course next season.

Let them eat cake … big thank you to Brian

What would we do without our fantastic band of helpers? The Danny Hall Foundation is a great local fundraiser for charity and on Saturday they have their Easter Cake Day at Kingsnorth Recreation Field (12.30-3.30pm). Brian Edwards, the current holder of the Supporter of the Year award, has baked and donated a cake on behalf of the club. Brian and Chell are typical of the band of helpers behind the scenes that are always there when needed – a fine example of why we must not let negative vibes get us down. Keep up the good work everyone.

The Tommy Habgood Memorial Day has been moved to a date when hopefully things will be a shade warmer. Discussions are taking place with the family about the exact format but the day will include the presentation of a memorial bench. More details to follow on the Events & Fixtures page.

All managers, youth and senior, please try and make the meeting on Monday (7.15pm) at which we need to have firm plans for training slots at Waterside during the summer; plus, who wants what next winter. It is clear that, other than the very young groups, most managers want to hold their winter training sessions outdoors. If that is the case, then please don’t call off training when the weather turns nasty … we have wasted, literally, hundreds of pounds over the last few weeks with training sessions being cancelled without Executive authorisation. The reason we expend huge sums on CPD is to ensure no player is left without training supervision throughout the year at least once during midweek. If anyone has a problem with this, bring the matter up on Monday. The managers’ meeting will end at 8.15pm to be followed by a short Executive meeting – so what better time to bring up matters that you think are important and in the interests of the club? Thank you DH.
