“May all your troubles last as long as your New Year’s resolutions!”
Well, now that’s out of the way, perhaps we can return to what really matters … football! Nothing today but Sid has training on Wednesday 9am – 10.30am.
St George’s: just the three age groups going: U11, U10 and U9
Birthday greetings today to Yonas Tesfay!
Bob Watson

The recent sad news of the passing of Green legend Bob Watson puts matters into perspective; and our thoughts are with his daughter Zoe who is understandably very down at the moment as she seeks information about her father’s playing career. Dominating defender Bob, who starred in the 1988/89 and 1989/90 seasons, scored the last of his 7 goals for the club on 23 September 1989 in a 5-3 Ashford Charity Trophy reserves victory over Houchins at Bybrook. The Green squad that day: Julian Back, Andrew Charlton, Bob Watson, Matt Coniam, Paul Plumridge, Nicky Uttley, John Webster, Mark Day, Scott Brooks, Matt Hadlum. Subs: Dave Knight and Lance Grist.
Bob often captained the side whilst playing alongside the late player-manager Mark Stanley but was always keen to help the youngsters as can be seen from the photo below taken at Brookland on 18 March 1990. Bob, who joined us after a distinguished playing record at a higher level, also played for local Sunday side Denmark Sunday alongside another Green stalwart Phil Swinard. He did like a fag … and, typical Old School, shook hands and had a few pints afterwards.

All our yesterdays … two random photos of happy days

Once upon a time, they were good little boys! En route to the Reebok finals staged in Bolton later in 1996. Danny Hodges, John Gibbs, Kev Barrett, Sean Gibbs, Dave Cook, Matt Gomez and Ross Turner.
Kev asked me for a copy of this photo years ago! Lost his contact details so, anyone reading this who sees him, please give him the nod and my regards … cheers DH
