Sunday bits … Saturday night updates

Shrimpton double ensures Bodkin safe passage

Two superb second half goals from Kieran Shrimpton, one a pile driver and the second the finishing touch to a flowing move, earned the Green a 2-0 victory over Mersham in the Bodkin Cup. Sporting tie wth both teams playing some neat football.

Meanwhile, the reserves can be considered more than unfortunate to come away from The Ridge with a 3-2 defeat to Ashford Spartans. On target for the Green, who had a strong claim for a penalty turned down, were Tom Messenger and Brad Osborne.

Nick Cook – “What a fantastic day of football”

What a fantastic day of football today, had my best ever turn out of the season – nice one . We were blessed with brilliant weather at Rainham today and lots of great matches for the under 11, under 13 and under 16 groups. Thanks guys for the great day!

Bromley Green Valiants Juniors enjoyed their day at Rainham

Looking forward to Sunday … and happy birthday to Dan Guichard, former first team boss Dave Smith and Nathan Stevens!

Sunday morning: BGV Juniors meet in the clubhouse 8.30am to prepare for their tournament at Rainham. BGV Seniors training as normal. In the Ashford Sunday League, we entertain Mersham (Bodkin Cup) while the reserves make the short trip to The Ridge to face Ashford Spartans. Sid will be without the injured David Robinson and Conan Wyer but is expected to field a couple of new signings.

Under 16s become first side to take a point off champions-elect in no-holds barred clash at Waterside

Mark Fuller declared himself well pleased with a 1-1 home draw against East Peckham who had previously not dropped a point this season. The visitors, who have all but wrapped up the title, led for a long spell but striker Alfie Glendinning notched a deserved leveller and point-saver for the Green. The visitors, uncompromising but providing a useful learning experience for the lads, received a let-off when a blatant penalty claim was refused after Ilja had been scythed down. All credit to the Green boys who battled away and earned their point towards the end. Encouraging all-round performance with Gabriel continuing his improved form by gaining the Player of the Match accolade and Kieran pulling off some great saves between the sticks. Next week the squad has a vacant date while the following Saturday they face a difficult away match with Egerton our opponents.

Under 11s thrilling away game with Faversham Strike Force Colts … summary by Rob Finn

Today we travelled to Faversham for a friendly which was to be a good game both sides playing some good football but against the run of play we found ourselves-3-0 down in the first 20 minutes from some slack defending but could have been on equal terms before the break if Matteo and Sam took their chances. HT 3-0. Second half the boys came out fighting and pulled a goal back from Sam’s corner which was headed home by Alfie 3-1 they kept pressing for a second but squandered more chances in front of goal. Sam did pull another back with a fine strike 3-2 but the clock was ticking and we just ran out of time final score 3-2. A good performance by all and a big well done to Preston for getting McDonalds PoM today for some outstanding goalkeeping well done!

Well played – terrific match on the Faversham Rec for the U11s
Bobbie and the U8s

Today we travelled to Park Farm after a few weeks without a game. We started slow but got stronger as the game went on. Some good passing and the movement off the ball again got better as the game went on, think the team had forgotten how to play football lol. Great to be back on the pitch and team done Bromley Green and themselves proud. Riley getting man of the match by putting in a great performance.

Under 10s carry on improving

First football match for 2 weeks and wow what a performance. This game had everything, great goalkeeping from Oliver, strong assured defending from Max and Harvey and some really good attacking football from Riley (2 goals), Ellis (2 goals) and new signing Bobby scoring on his debut and also an excellent performance from Lilly (POM) chosen by the Charing coach. Well done! Matt Church
