Tuesday 19 February 2019

Clubhouse open from 4pm today if anyone wants to collect garments etc

Training as normal this evening for the U9 Colts; while at Waterside it is pizza night for the U9DVS. Training for both groups begins at 6pm.

Very productive planning meeting last night and thanks to all those that have volunteered their services to help make the tournament a success. We will have one more meeting in a couple of months time. Item 21 (Security) Jamie has received an immediate positive answer and also has pledged Pirtek support for sponsorship of the event which takes place on 1 and 2 June 2019. I will ping out the revised tracker to those it concerns as soon as time permits.

Invites will soon go out for the tournament which this year will be 5-a-side for the U7s and U8s and 7-a-side for the U9s through to U16s. Those Bromley Green teams not represented last night as requested, will need to let me know if they wish to be entered and what roles parents are prepared to play as this is a ‘club’ event – therefore it is important that we are organised, everybody mucks in, and our many guests enjoy themselves. Thank you DH.

We will be welcoming an extra Under 9 side for next season and a Meet and Greet has been arranged for Tuesday 2 April 2019 at 7pm. Our current U11s are looking to enter the EKYL as U12s next season and there is the possibility of two ADYL Saturday sides to ensure all the children have football. The very young ones, under the guidance of Charlie Fletcher, will start training as soon as the clocks alter. So, any 5-year-olds coming up to 6 years get your mates ready! On the senior front, Matt Wedge will manage a new Saturday side and we are now seeking sponsorship. The U16s, provided there are enough team entries, are keen to remain in the ADYL as Under 17s and, again, a sponsor would be nice!

Spare training slot at Repton on Thursday 6-7pm. Any BG team that does not already train on a Thursday want it? First come, first served. Daytime training at Waterside … I really don’t know why there isn’t more of it during half-term with kids telling me they are bored and most parents lamenting they are skint … let me know if any youth teams want a session. Following closely behind Jamie Spiers, who was elected two weeks ago, Michelle Potts is to be nominated for the Executive at its next meeting. If you feel you can contribute, either physically or administration-wise as we enter an exciting new phase in our club’s history, please email dhomewood@yahoo.com
