3pm update: Wednesday evening: BG Valiants training has been called off – David Spencer
Anyone help? Gateway into field is just a mud-mess! Hardcore or whatever needed urgently to make it ok for Saturday. Worried that it is not passable even for emergency vehicles. Timmy is trying to solve but if anyone out there can sort … as the saying goes “Just Do It!” Any stuff left over can fill up the driveway potholes. When you’ve done that, I’ll get you a beer! Thank you. DH.
Clubhouse open today from 9.30am to 7.30pm … all welcome!

Birthday greetings today to Jordan Griffin!

Thanks to Ellie, John, Katie, Jack and Archie who helped out Tuesday night and a special mention for Mrs Caka for the lovely cakes to mark Ilir’s last training session in charge of the Under 9 Colts. The club takes this opportunity to thank Ilir for all his dedication and he has assured the squad that he will still be around to shout at them. As a night out at our major sponsors McDonalds, the boys will have a visit to the High Street restaurant on Thursday 14 March @6pm.
This Saturday the boys meet in the clubhouse 9.30am for the home league affair with Headcorn. Brian will be in charge for the remaining matches this season but he will need help, especially on match days.
McDonalds Dave King keen to support Green youngsters
Taking over as Business Manager from Rachel at the High Street restaurant, Dave King is excited about the future and can’t wait to watch the McDonalds U11s in action (they always seem away lately!)
Fingers crossed, the squad will have a new sponsored kit in readiness for the St George’s tournament.
Plans in the pipeline for next season for the improving squad are to be confirmed at next week’s Executive Committee meeting with the likely way forward two sides in the ADYL (Rob and Timmy) and one in the EKYL (manager tbc). Committee member Jamie Spiers is confident Pirtek and his business associates will generously sponsor what will be the Under 12s next term.
No final decision has been taken yet concerning the U15s entry into the EKYL next season and again the matter will be under consideration at Executive level next week.
Martyn Dalby and Jamie Hurst have put their names forward to succeed Mark Fuller at the end of the season after Mark stated he didn’t wish to carry on once the league fixtures were completed. Jamie and Martyn will offer Mark support to enable a seamless transition. The plan is to enter the U17s next season which will enable our younger element to remain part of the squad (they are not old enough for senior competition).
Under 8 Colts: now Pat has sadly called it a day, Joe will manage for the remaining three league games of the season. This Thursday, Spud and Gavin have offered to train the children with Joe working. Please keep an eye on the Events & Fixtures page as amendments are always heavy at this time of the year.
I have been asked to remind all managers, coaches, admins, parents and players that club policy is not an optional choice. The policies have been formulated over many decades and are there for reasons – not least of which is safeguarding. Thank you.
