Monday: we open by 5pm with training as per the schedule (please refer to the Events & Fixtures page as managers are changing days and times for their slots quite regularly until things settle down for the summer sessions. Note to U14s: training is 6-7.30pm as you only have one session per week at the moment.
Looking forward to this week, reminders that there are ‘Meet & Greet’ get-togethers for the new U9s (Alex Potts) on Tuesday, and the new Girls U14s on Wednesday. On Thursday, can all the U11 parents stay behind for a short while after training please when plans for next season and St Georges can be confirmed. Thank you DH.
Well, another busy weekend is over! Big thank you to all who supported the club on either or both days. Delicious chicken curry and pita bread courtesy of Martyn Dalby on Sunday for the afternoon regulars. On the pitch, mixed results as is football; but off the pitch so many positives with adults and children doing us proud. You all know who you are – so well done!

Ashford & District Sunday League
A closely-fought first hour turned sour for the firsts on Sunday as they bowed out of the Bodkin Cup at the penultimate stage 5-0 to old rivals Market Hotel. A bad injury to lone striker Luke Burdon left the home team with an uphill task – but no excuses and we wish Market all the best for the final. Pick of the Green Ryan Ford, Andrew Trott and Kieran Shrimpton. Suspensions and injuries are taking their toll on Gary’s squad and next week another tough ask comes in the shape of White Horse in the semi-final of the Divisional Cup (kick off at Waterside 10.30am).
The Green second string considered themselves a shade hard done by at The Rype, going down 3-2 in a topsy-turvy affair. Corie Griffiths fired the Green ahead with a cross-shot but the Hoppers took a 3-1 advantage midway through the second period. Although Brad Osbourne reduced the deficit, it wasn’t to be; but encouraging stuff from the youngsters and veteran Sid Hone at the back.
Both senior teams are in action on Sunday morning with the firsts welcoming old friends Market Hotel and the reserves off to The Rype to meet Lydd Grasshoppers. Both games kick off at 10.30am. Can everyone please park in the field and not in the Swan Centre car park … thank you.

Under 11s report from Rob Finn

Today we had to switch our game to The Ridge for our home fixture against TSS the boys started brightly and put some great moves together with excellent passing and some lovely crosses into the box which created chances in front of goal second half had to make a few changes to give all the squad a run out which meant giving key players a rest and putting players in different positions a good performance by the team although stronger in the first half than the second well done all that took part
Rob
Great day Saturday at Waterside and thank you to all those who helped make the ADYFL U8s tournament such a success

Green U14s away win at Hoppers

Saturday we welcome guests from the ADYFL and we hope everyone enjoys their football … the children always behave perfectly – let’s hope the adults can emulate them!
A friendly reminder to all that alcohol is not to be brought into the ground. If you fancy a drink, fine, pop into the clubhouse – but please stay within the prescribed limits and remember …
… under no circumstances are alcoholic drinks permitted alongside the pitches.
Burgers, Bacon, Korkers all cooked fresh and at sensible prices; while inside we have pasties, pies, sausage rolls and a range of snacks and Easter Eggs!
Also at home on Saturday are the Under 16s who entertain local friends Park Farm Rangers in a league encounter. The squad is seeking a regular keeper (unless we can persuade Nathan to rethink) as Kieron and Jordan are great in goal but are needed in open play. Anyone interested in the first instance please contact dhomewood@yahoo.com
Robert has announced the following U11s squad to play TSS at The Ridge this morning: Preston, Alfie, Harrison, Kavalli, Sam, Thomas, Daniel, Charlie, Matteo, Ben, Kieron, William, Josh, Abdel, Timmy, Arilas
All timings are on the Events & Fixtures page
Lastly, before things swing into action: PLEASE PARK SENSIBLY AND DON’T BLOCK EMERGENCY VEHICLE ACCESS POINTS … please follow the stewards directions onto the field … thank you

U8s tournament on Saturday
All hands on deck on Saturday please as we have a busy morning; especially hosting the ADYFL U8s Tournament. After getting stock/rolls etc, I anticipate opening by 7am and help will be needed with the gazebos, goals, nets, barriers, signs, barbecue, car parking and so forth [plus of course clearing away afterwards which is always a chore!] All help gratefully received. DH
Under 7s looking good … still room for a couple more as we build for the ADYL next season … anyone interested is welcome to contact the manager, Alex Hebbes, on 07740363519 or email dhomewood@yahoo.com
