Player of the Season voting coming soon

Players: please start thinking about your own vote for ‘Player of the Season’ in your team. Forms for the secret ballot will be out during the next two weeks. Btw those that can’t be bothered to vote will not be eligible for the award. Managers and admin will be contacted shortly for nominations for the various other awards (both in the side you are connected with and the club as a whole). You will be emailed with the suggested options for awards.

Bromley Green 7-0 Ashford Cavaliers

A completely changed line-up from Thursday night didn’t prevent the Green from claiming the three points as the title race hots up. Cavaliers played their part in an entertaining affair but lacked a cutting edge with home goalkeeper Louis Burton largely a spectator.

At the other end, young stopper Wayne Everest was undoubtedly the visitors star performer with capable handling and a string of fine saves.

On target for the home side were Andrew Trott, Ryan Prior, Conor Little, Jamie Dobbin and substitute Matt Wedge (3).

Next up is Burton Grove on Thursday night at the North School (6.30pm).

Today’s results

Div One: Appledore 1-5 Lydd Grasshoppers; Charing 1-1 Troggs; Galacticos P-P Stanhope; Nailbox A-W Red Heathens

Div Two: Aldington 3-0 Fox Sunday; Bromly Green 7-0 Ashford Cavaliers

Div Three: Ashford Spartans 0-3 Biddenden; Park Farm Rangers 9-0 Kingsnorth Pilgrims

Entertaining evening game as Green take maximum points

Full marks to referee Vince Bottacchi and both sides last night at Sandyacres where Fox Sunday and Bromley Green put on an entertaining affair that remained close until the final stages.

Ryan Ford gave the visitors an early lead when he finished off a super move and, when Ryan Carter saw his shot wriggle over the line for a 2-0 interval advantage, a comfortable Green victory seemed on the cards.

However, Fox are renowned for their never-say-die spirit and were back in the hunt almost straight from the restart when Kieran Shrimpton inadvertently nodded in an own goal. The introduction at the break of Matt Dorsett gave the home team a solid look at the back and for twenty minutes the outcome was in the balance.

Fox pressed as Green nerves jangled a shade but – with both sides missing key players – it was the visitors greater strength in depth from the bench that saw their fitness dominate in the last ten minutes.

With Andrew Trott and Jamie Hurst terrific in the air, the Green finished with a flourish with Carter striking his second and Shrimpton atoning for his earlier lapse with a superb run and well-taken goal.

Levii Loyza and Luke Burdon, who came off due to the recurrence of an ankle injury, caught the eye for the Green with Fox well served by Jamie Steele and veteran Andy Jones.

Green: Burton; Shrimpton, Trott, Hurst, Dobbin, Carter, Milton, Burdon L, Gower, Ford, Loyza. Subs: Ahmad, Taylor S, Prior, Ahmetaj

This Sunday, the pressure stays on the Green who welcome Simon and the Cavaliers to Waterside (10.30am). Reserves have a free day.
