Anyone know why the U8s didn’t turn up for the Wye Tournament on Saturday morning? Highly embarrassing, a waste of money and sincere apologies are sent to our friends at Wye.

A goal by Jack Matthews wasn’t enough for the U13s who went down 3-1 at Hopes Grove to High Halden. Well done to McDonalds Player of the Match Joseph Moloney. Sid still needs a couple of players in preparation for next season … contact him on 07391902851.

Congratulations Joseph … our McDonalds Player of the Match today fr the U13s

Under 9 Colts in tournament action

Meanwhile, the U9 Colts enjoyed their tournament experience and Brian Jenkins was delighted with the attitude of the players. Oliver McRobert took the Player of the Tournament Award. Tommy Taylor tells me he scored!

U9 Colts – always a smiling group
Well done Oliver!
The reluctant hero

Under 11s squad for the Wye tournament on Saturday

Preston, Alfie, Harrison, Sam, Thomas, Daniel, Matteo, Kavalli, Kris, Charlie W

Good luck to the U8s, U9 Colts, U10 Warriors and U11s who take part in the first club tournament of the season at Wye on Saturday. Meeting times are on the Events & Fixtures page. Usual vouchers for Player of the Tournament will be waiting at the ground for those that return and present at the club.

Under 11s: we are at our sponsors McDonalds, High Street, Ashford on Tuesday 6pm when the manager Dave King will present the new kit. All turn up on time please and be on your best behaviour!

Time is running out for all players to vote for their respective Player of the Season … the forms and ballot box have been in the clubhouse all week. If you don’t vote, you are not eligible to win the award yourself … seems fair to me. Oh, and as it states on the form, you can’t vote for yourself!

Message from the League … please read and behave accordingly

Talking of behaviour, the following has been circulated by the Ashford & District Sunday Football League:

I have been asked by the Kent FA to email Clubs in our League to reinforce and remind you of the responsibility of all Clubs to make sure/encourage players and spectators to refrain from using foul and abusive language on and off the pitch during the Sunday game of football.  The FA handbook states (within Rules 20 and 21) that Clubs are responsible to conduct themselves in an orderly fashion and refrain from (amongst other things) any foul and abusive language .  This request has come after complaints from the public against teams playing at two different venues on a Sunday morning.

Foul and abusive language isn’t acceptable and all Clubs are playing on public grounds and, with that privilege, Clubs should be respectful and mindful of their neighbours – our Club Captains all wear the Respect Armbands and this does not only apply to those on the pitch but all those attending on the day.  We are all intelligent enough to think and stop swearing however passionate we might be on the pitch or side-lines.  Could we please ask that you pass this message on to all members of your Club/Teams.  Through this email, if our Referees Representative could pass on the fact that complaints have been received to the next Referees Meeting and if all Referees could also remind teams of this at the beginning of each match.

Many thanks for your help in this matter.

Kind regards, Fiona Spicer
