U11s Report from tournament by Timmy
We was drawn against 4 north Kent academy sides
1st up was ebbsfleet we got caught early and the opponents went 2 up early and again just on half time, 2nd half we kept it at 3nil and a great performance against a v good side
2nd match we had snodland they took the lead again early but one excellent game by all we drew level through Charlie and took the lead through Ben and minutes later a cracking solo run from Harrison saw us beat the ekyl team 3 1
Next up the strongest team was langton green which despite playing well we lost 4 0 finally another good side we needed a least a draw against host bredhurst and we had a real game against them but narrowly lost well done to all the boys did me and the parents proud pot was Ben well done again
Dean Mansfield reports from Central Park
Today we travelled to Bredhurst Juniors for a 6 aside tournament. First group game was against the hosts Bredhurst Juniors and it was a great game with us winning 3-2. Up next was Lordswood Youth with us coming out on top 2-0. 3rd game was against Barnes Eagles that have already played 3 and won them all (turns out they are an academy team but picked the best players from a few different academy’s) but my team got at them not giving them any space or time and with the parents and other teams cheering us on we come away with a 1-0 win this was a great team performance. So on to the 4th and final group game only needing a point to top the group we played Kingsdale Black and it finished 0-0. So we topped the group and moved on to play Wigmore Whippets in the quarter finals and what a game this was 1-1 after normal time, so going into extra time and sudden death we got a free kick in the first half of extra time and up steps captain Jack too get it up and over a wall of 2 and find the back of the net brilliant goal. So moving into the semifinals we played H Valley Strikers this was a close game but we just come out on top winning 1-0. So the big one moving onto the final we was left to play Sheerness East out of 15 teams that started the tournament. The final was a great game between two teams playing the ball on the ground looking to pass sadly we just run out of steam and lost 1-0. What a great day had by all and for us Pld 7 W5 D1 L1 goals for 9 against 4. Well played U9s done yourselves PROUD.

Under 8 Hurricanes squad: Alfie Potts, Charlie Andrew, Thomas Bridge, Nathaniel Bulman, Owen Page, Louis Adegunle, Tyler Temple, Ethan Webb.
Another good showing from the team at the Bredhurst tournament on Saturday. A well organised tournament with a high standard of teams, the boys did really well to remain competitive in all games only conceding 3 goals but not enough to proceed to the knockout stages. A really pleasing team performance but special mention for Thomas Bridge stepping in as goal keeper to pull of one of the saves of the tournament. This the last tournament of the season and it was good to see how they have really developed over the year against some high quality opposition.
Meanwhile at Waterside, Vinters, who play two leagues above us were a well drilled outfit and emerged comfortable victors against our Pirtek U12s. As one parent stated: “This shows the boys the level to which they need to aspire”. Some real positives to draw and lots of lessons. Terrific goals from Matteo and Kris are worthy of mention while Charlie made some brilliants stops between the sticks. One no-show and two having prior commitments did not help; but we are not making excuses. Thanks to referee Malek and all the parents who helped … a real team effort and we will approach our next match with heads held high. Player of the Match will be presented on Thursday when hopefully everyone attends training.
A busy Saturday followed by a hectic Sunday! Thanks to all those who supported our clubhouse on Saturday and those teams who came back to receive their Player of the Tournament vouchers from BGFC and McDonalds.
Sunday sees Dean and Timmy at Bredhurst, the Sunday Reserves at home to Kingsnorth Pilgrims and the EKYL U12s also at home, to Vinters, with an 8.30am meet. Plus training for the BGV Adults and Juniors and our guests from Appledore. Changing space is going to be tight this morning but if all cooperate, everything will be fine.
Don’t forget, some managers are changing their training routine from Monday – so please can you all let me know exactly your days and times please to enable the Events & Fixture page to be updated and accurate.
