Peter Stanley presents the Mark Stanley Memorial Trophy to Martyn Smith

On Sunday, we were honoured to again welcome the family of the late Mark Stanley for the annual Memorial Match and what a terrific game it turned out to be. I understand the Green boys scraped it but the score is unimportant – what matters is the re-gathering of so many ‘old boys’ in memory of Mark. My thanks to you all (especially referee Peter!) DH

On the adjacent pitch, no lack of endeavour with the Green U12 Pirtek squad pitting their wits against Rochester City. Four 15-minute games ended in two losses and two wins and the crowd certainly got their money’s worth with some great play by both sides and stunning goals from Kris, Daniel and Samuel. Player of the Match went to Preston for his attitude and non-stop effort; but it could have gone to any one of the lads who are on a steep learning curve as we gradually prepare for September. Big thanks to Damo and the parents for all their help.
