[updated] Weekend as it happens

For my dear friend Steve Mailey – did you see that cricket?

Sunday: clubhouse open from 9am

Hot weather for today’s games at Waterside for the seniors, BGV adults and Under 12s Pirtek

No details but a 6-4 win for the seniors. BGV home fixture – no details.

U12s Pirtek put up a great effort and never gave in against higher grade opposition Folkestone Invicta with Thomas Hawkins smashing home a penalty for our consolation. Special mention for younger lads Liam and Jack who did themselves and the club proud. Player of the match will be presented after training on Thursday. Thanks to those parents who helped with goals etc.

Yesterday’s details and more photos to follow …

What a long day at Borstal, near Rochester for the Under 15s 11-a-side tournament! A lovely setting and the football was good but it just dragged on and on and on in the heat … Player of the Tournament will be presented after training on Tuesday. Again thanks to the usual parents who helped with transport.

Great 4-1 win for the Under 14s at Charing

Under 8s report from Alex Hebbes

Hi Dave

Both Bromley Greens under 8’s played today in a mini tournament with our sponsors friend and associate watching on as we received our new kit. The teams did not disappoint:

First game vs Minster under 8’s development team started with a comprehensive 5-0 win. The whole team player with spirit, determination and creative flair. Goals from Kuba x 2 Daniel Vincent hat trick. Special mentions to Daniel Ellis and Noah for brilliantly supporting the attacking players and snuffing our the counter attacks. Huge positive for Tyler Godden keeping a clean sheet after the disappointment of the Hythe result. He is developing into an outstanding keeper for his age.

2nd game for Bromley Green under 8’s was against a strong Minster side who had just won against the BG Dream team side in a close game. Yet again BG were pegged behind to an early goal, Daniel Vincent levelling early in first half, Minster took the lead again when a corner evaded everyone to be tapped in at far post. BG levelled with an outstanding goal by Daniel Vincent which took a half time score at 2-2. BG were undone by a long ball and a few deflections that led to a 3rd for Minster with 10 on the clock. Daniel Vincent again levelled with his second hat trick of the day and with minutes edging away he gained his 4th (7th goal of the day) with a blistering drive into the bottom corner. BG finished the day with a 4-3 win.
An outstanding display from the team on a very hot day against strong opposition. Player of the day fir BG goes to Daniel Vincent with special mentions a to all the players involved who kept their heads and smashed it in the heat. Well done everyone, next up we’re away to Wye

I think Tiny is sending you a match report shortly.

Thanks

Alex Hebbes

Rob’s report from the Marsh

Today we made the trip to the marsh for a pre season friendly on a very hot morning with some players still away it was a makeshift team but all players contributed in some way playing some good football but it was one of those days the ball just wouldn’t go in the net after creating chance after chance and if it wasn’t the Romney keeper it was the woodwork that denied us goals but full credit to the boys & girls they never gave in despite the 4-0 loss they all enjoyed the game a big well done to Olivia for getting POTM today  2 more pre season games to get things right before the league opener on 7th of September .well done all that took part today.
