So many attractive matches in the club this weekend but the top billing has to be the Old Firm meeting of the The Green and The Market in the Premier Division opener on Sunday (10.30am). Whatever the outcome, let’s hope for a sporting encounter and the club respectively reminds all those on the touchline that the drinking of alcohol is not permitted.

Meanwhile, the Reserves pop down the A20 to Sellindge where they face the unknown quantity of Folkestone United Reserves. The seasiders are expected to be there or thereabouts come next April and the inclusion of ace marksman Ashley Sales will mean the Green backline will need to be at its best. Kick of at Swan Lane is also 10.30am.

On Sunday afternoon, the U12s Pirtek team welcome Vinters for a friendly (2.30pm) and the BG Girls welcome Chatham Ladies (2pm). The Pirtek squad will be announced Saturday lunchtime with doubts hanging over one or two. Katie Lane, injured on Thursday, is a definite non-starter.

For all the Saturday morning tournament and match details, please refer to the Events & Fixtures page. There have been minor changes to the original schedule. The seniors host K Sports in a friendly Saturday afternoon (2.30pm) with Mark Roberts officiating. Matt Wedge and Paul Wynter will be hoping to get their charges buzzing now the league campaign is closing in.

Good news is that Katie Lane should be back in a week or so after hurting herself at training on Thursday. She has a splint on for a few days and will definitely miss this weekend’s matches.

Also doing fine is Pip Castle after his small op … bit sore but Phil is expected to be back with us very soon.
