Under 9s report from Flood Street, Mersham by Dave Homewood
What a great game! Sadly we can’t give the score but credit to both teams for providing an end-to-end match that swung first one way and then the other. Some great saves by H, super goals from George W and hard work from all the team gives much encouragement for the coming season. The home team had a couple of outstanding players that always kept us busy but Dennis and myself in time will build a super side. Green squad: Harry, Ali, Noah, Ronnie, Josiah, George W, Samuel, George S, Alfie, Charlie J. Thanks to all the parents for their support and Pete of Mersham for refereeing.
You can be proud of yourselves!
There were some sensational performances on Saturday but pride of place goes to Peter Orji who has manfully kept the Under 10s together after a mass defection just prior to the season. More youngsters are looking to join this week … well done Peter and those who stayed loyal!
Some match reports (sorry but for non-competitive age groups we can’t give scores) … photos to follow …
Report from David Bridge: Under 9 Hurricanes
Squad: Squad: Alfie, Thomas, Nathaniel, Louis, Tyler, Ethan, George, Daniel and Ibrahim
This turned out to be a really close game against our local rivals played in a fantastic spirit. A testament to how far this team has come was the tightly contested first half. Daniel was certainly at his best in goal today to keep the score at x-x; but we were not without our own chances. The team really came into their own in the second half with Tyler keeping up his own personal ‘cross bar challenge’ before neatly finishing a good team move. Chances continued to be made at either end until Park Farm manages to grab a goal in last few minutes. Hard to pick a PoM today from a great team performance but for his goal and all round play Tyler was named parents PoM.
A promising start to what looks like will be a good season. Proud coaches tonight
Report from Dean Mansfield: Under 10 DVS
This morning we travelled to West Farleigh Orcas for our league game with a full squad (please see picture of my Bromley Green DVS U10s squad)
The game I have to say was played in a brilliant manner with both sets of parents saying it was a great game to watch.
We started well and got into our game playing some lovely football. This team all work so hard on the pitch for each other it’s great to see.
Great to see Rhys now playing how I know he could looks a different player from last season and being caught at the back to defend two 1v1 he won the battles both times.
Also had Alfie come off with about 2 minutes to go as he had run his legs of for the team so much running off the ball to get back and cover when needed was great to see.
One of the highlights of the game has to be Gerrard’s left foot shot (sorry I believe I can not say if he scored or not) but if you saw Gerrard at the start of last season you would know he did not use his left foot at all so over the moon he is now shooting with it looks like training is paying off lol.
For player of the match I picked Keane (please see picture of Keane getting his prize from assistant manager John) for him controlling the game from centre midfield winning the ball back and also helping when attacking, now I know you will be thinking how can Keane win this as look at that picture his hair is not one bit out of place 😂 he mush have stood still all game 😂 but I can tell you all I have had Keane playing for me now about 2 years and not once have I seen a hair out of place 😂 well played this morning.
Also I would like to say it was so hard to pick player of the match as everyone played so so well if the club let me pick as many as I wanted then with Keane I would have picked – Lewis, William, Rhys, Wayne, Riley, Gerrard, Cameron, Alfie, Aldy and Jack. But as only one allowed Keane is my choice, well played Bromley Green DVS U10s let’s keep working hard in training and good performances will follow.
Report from Alex Hebbes: Bromley Green Global
Bromley Green playing first home game of the season started brightly with a Daniel V opener and beating a few players to finish into the bottom corner, Hythe town scored straight away to equalise with a good finish. Kuba scored next finishing low past the keeper to make it x-x Green at half time, Green started the brighter and scored again through Kuba to make it x-x, Hythe pulled 1 back with another good finish x-x, Green were given a penalty with an unfortunate handball in the area, Kuba scores for his hat trick, Hythe playing well but vulnerable on the counter and both keepers pulling off saves, one of these counter attacks found Daniel V inside his own half danced past a few challenges and hammered low into the bottom corner to make it x-x. Chances at either end with Green hitting the post at the death.Player of the Match: Daniel E.
Report from Tony Nelson: Bromley Green Under 8s Dream Team
Bromley Green Dream Team, had their first away game in the league away to Charing.
We started quick and showed that home advantage is all in the head, playing the Dream Team way using a high press and individual brilliance to find the gaps.
We are continuing the development each game and a special mention to Noah for going in goal and pulling off some great saves.
Goal scorers kai 3, Bubba 2,Archie 2, Dexter 1
PoTM ~ Billie-Joe
Well done Dream Team, Tony & Damo
Report from Rob Finn: U12 McDonalds
Today we welcomed TSS to Waterside with the bare 9 players available we took a well deserved lead through Sam 1-0 but with a makeshift defence we struggled at the back and if it wasn’t for Charlie we could have been well behind as he pulled off a string of saves denying the visitors but dubious penalty decision was the game changer when TSS were awarded a penalty and converted 1-1 and just before the break they took the lead from some sloppy defending HT 1-2 second half the team looked very tired and conceded 3 more goals 1-5. PoTM went to Charlie for some outstanding goalkeeping there is some issues that need addressing on Tuesday and I have asked for a meeting with parents & players as the team simply can’t run like this. There is no league fixture next Saturday but a friendly has been arranged at home to Mersham but we will see how things go on Tuesday as to whether that goes ahead or not.
Under 13s at Waterside on Saturday
Under 15s Player of the Match at home to Wye Crowns
