Bromley Green Valiants coach announces retirement

Long-serving Valiants coach Pat Penfold has submitted his resignation to the club. “After 16 years coaching, I need a rest and, following careful thought, have decided to retire. I would like to thank The Patron and Debby Claber for everything and of course all the Valiant players and coaches themselves. I wish the Bromley Green Valiants every success for the future”.

Pat joined the Green when the Invicta Valiants joined us five years ago and has enjoyed much fun and success; also managing mainstream juniors. Patron Dave Homewood: “Without Pat, there would be no BGV and I thank him for all his dedication. He will always be welcome at our club”.

Training tonight is as per normal … contact your manager or admin if unsure

Loads of presents for the Children’s Christmas Party. Lillie keep wrapping please! Can all managers and admins please let Michelle Edwards know of ticket sales by Monday. There is strictly no admission (or therefore presents) for children without tickets – in essence, no child aged up to and including 10 years will be left out but we must have numbers please. If you haven’t been offered tickets, please contact Michelle or Dave Homewood as a matter of urgency. Thank you.

I am already receiving questions about the state of the pitches … and the answer is simply that all areas are churned up and wet! We can but hope for a long drying-out spell.

There are just two more spaces on the U12s EKYL Game Bus on the 19 December at 5pm. No answers from parents of Kris, Charlie W, Abdel, Elizabeth, Ben, Amin – so if I haven’t heard by training on Thursday, I will offer to other U12s who are keen to join in.

U12s EKYL please note training on Thursday this week is at Pitchside 6-7pm so wear appropriate footwear please

BG Girls chasing on three fronts

BG Girls are topping the table and still in the Winston Cup and Divisional Cup … keep it going girls. Here is Steve Sutton’s report from Sunday:

The U14 Girls continued their fine form this season, welcoming Petts Wood Swifts in Divison 2 of the KGLFL.  Some great work on the left wing in the opening minutes saw Anya Carroll snuck a shot in past the keeper at the near post.  Five minutes later the away side were level after a goalmouth scramble from a corner saw the Girls concede only their second goal this season.

After 20 minutes, the ball was won back in the midfield and saw Ella Roper break the defensive line to score.  As often happens in the Girls games, another goal was scored two minutes later with Anya causing trouble to the away team defence and crossing into the box for Chloe Lloyd to turn the ball home.  Half time score 3-1.

The second half started with a bang, with Ella Roper again driving through the defence to claim her second goal of the game in the first minute of the half.  And, as happened in the first half, 2 minutes later the team won the ball in midfield and some neat interchanging of passes saw Lucy Griggs through and claiming her first ever goal for the side.

Five minutes after this saw the Greens running at the defence of the away side again allowing Shanie O’Leary through for her to claim her first goal for the side.  Final score 6-1.
