U13s Pirtek Outclassed by the Chats

U13s Pirtek before last night’s game with Chatham Town

The Chatham Town side we faced at Sutton Valence last night, were a pleasure to watch … in fact some of our players watched for far too much of a one-sided friendly! Facing the blustery elements in the first period, we fought gallantly against a quality outfit but our cause was not helped when keeper Jamie damaged his shoulder in the process of making a superb save and had to go off. With the season proper around the corner, best wishes go to him to get the injury cleared up soon.

The second half from our point of view was, quite frankly, clueless and I will take the blame as the buck always stops with the manager – it is to be hoped the lads learned from the mauling. Pre-match discussion focused on not worrying about the scoreline but more about putting some moves together and working as a team. Being second to every single goal kick, meant we did neither – and looking woefully weak in the tackle ensured constant pressure. I don’t recall us mustering a single shot throughout the whole match.

Thanks and apologies to the strong band of parents who gave us their support. I honestly don’t know the score – but it was far too many and I apologise for the disappointing display. What hurts is the lack of effort and application by some.

In conclusion, I will look for a return to positive vibes at training on Thursday – when hopefully everyone will be committed to erasing this debacle from the memory.

Any player that is not available on Sunday for the match with Faversham Strike Force is asked to return their kit on Thursday please to enable me to play others. Thank you DH.
