Sunday lads get their season going
Our season suddenly looks brighter after a 7-2 win over Folkestone United Reserves this morning at Sandyacres. Goals from Matt Wedge (2), Brad Taffurelli and Player of the Match George Mabb (4). Next Sunday table-toppers Lolzors visit Sandyacres (10.30am). Results in Division Three: Bromley Green 7-2 Folkestone Utd Reserves; Charing Reserves 4-0 Waterside; Singleton 2-5 Pilgrims
Summary from Timmy Russell: Eventually we had a full squad and what a difference it madeWe played some really good football and dominated the game, debutant George Mabb getting 4 goals Matt Wedge 2 and Brad with 1 great team performance well done lads.
Eight goals shared by EKYL Under 13s and Barham Youth
The afternoon match witnessed an end-to-end affair featuring the Green boys and Barham Youth which ended all square at 4-4. Still lots to work on and the large pitches really don’t suit our style of play – simply too big for creative 11- and 12-year-olds. We missed a number of open goals when just a shot, any shot, would have won the day. However, everybody gave their best and we look forward to next week’s short trip to Faversham Strike Force Lightning when hopefully skipper Preston Webb will be back and Harley White recovered from injury. Josh Bailey, Henry Barnes and Charlie Bryant were always in the thick of the action while Thomas Hawkins caught the eye with a cracker of a goal from outside the box. Good to have Kris back after his long break, and a mention for Charlie Barber who caused all sorts of problems in the second half. We should really have held on to the points, having always held the edge; but credit to Barham who never gave up and grabbed their equaliser in the dying embers of a sporting encounter. The Green’s tally was completed by Henry and a well taken brace from Ben Hatcher. Training Thursday please everyone at 6pm sharp as it gets dark so damn quick!

Results in our section: Bromley Green 4-4 Barham Youth; Cheriton 0-12 Lyminge; Dynamo 5-2 Faversham Strike Force Lightning; Ramsgate Orange 13-1 Faversham Strike Force Hurricanes
Birthday greetings on Sunday to Alan Lamprycht and Adele Coniam!
A comparatively quiet day for the club beckons on Sunday, with just two matches taking place at Sandyacres. The seniors welcome Folkestone United Reserves (10.30am kick off) while the Under 13s Pirtek host Barham Youth in the East Kent Youth League (2pm kick off).
We still need someone suitable to form a development Under 8s group as it is not a good feeling having to turn kids away. If you can help, please email davehomewood@icloud.com
